Activities at Lochduhar Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Lochduhar Care Home

Abba tribute night

Residents enjoyed an evening of ABBA as we held a ABBA tribute night with a selection of 70s food, from sausage and pineapple on sticks, vol-au-vents filled with delicious fillings, there was plenty of mouth-watering drinks too as we danced the night away!

Exercising with Oomph

Keeping active, having social interactions and being mentally stimulated is very important to Residents at Lochduhar.   Residents took advantage of Oomph live exercise class.

Every got really competitive, everyone wanted to beat each other and Residents really got into the activity.

As part of the homes life enrichment programme, the activities coordinators include firm favourites in the homes calendar with fun-filled adapted games that they played over the years in a safe environment!

Keeping active together

If you’ve followed our Facebook page for a while, you will know that we’re fond of a games day!  We got the parachute out again for some exercise and fun as well as playing dominoes. We do enjoy keeping active together!

World Religon Day

Today is World Religion Day. To mark this day we used the activity book from the Oomph activity resource to learn all about religions from around the world.  The residents reminisced about going to Sunday School when they were children and one resident advised that her mother had been a Sunday School teacher.  After reading about the other religions, residents completed a religion themed word search and coloured in the themed pictures.

Illustrations masterclass

When local author, Rachel reached out to the home to see if our residents would like to do some illustrations for her book on the Scottish coastline, we were only too happy to oblige. The Lighthouse is at Southerness and it assists a safe passage through the Solway Firth. The Caerverlock Castle is situated on the Southern coast of Scotland. During the session residents shared their memories of favourite holidays spent in Scotland.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all our residents families, friends and all our followers, we hope that Santa brought everyone some lovely gifts!  Resident's woke to find that they were included on Santa's nice list and each had a gift waiting for them! They have spent the rest of the morning opening gifts from family and friends.
