"On visiting other care homes in Dumfries I knew straightaway Lochduhar was the best choice for Mum. The staff I have interacted with are a credit to the organisation. They are so kind and respectful. The lobby area is nicely decorated and welcoming."

"I am absolutely delighted & extremely impressed with the level of care at Lochduhar, my mother was placed into care here January 2025, the management & staff are first class, I really couldn't fault them if I tried, they are so professional, attentive, respectful, & compassionate, extremely switched on & very aware of what's going on around them at any given time, I receive very good communication in relation to my mothers care, they are in touch as soon as there is anything they feel I need to know, I visit regularly & my mother is always so well turned out, clean & fresh, her room is immaculate, her clothes & belongings are well looked after, nothing goes missing from her room, the food is fantastic, there are lots of activities for the residents to take part in too if they wish, & staff really do go the extra mile to encourage residents & to include everyone, it also has extremely well cared for grounds. A truly fantastic & highly experienced team who give me total peace of mind."

"My Granny has recently moved into Lochduhar and has settled really well. This is down to the staff and the running of the care home. The activities are varied, along with the meals. Staff are friendly and approachable."

"My father has been a resident in Barchester Lochduhar for a year now and I am always pleased with the quality of care provided to him by all the staff. Lochduhar is very family oriented, nothing appears to be any trouble to the staff and it is always very welcoming. I had the pleasure of visiting on St Valentine's Day and thought the effort put in by all the staff to make it a celebration for residents and guests was amazing. The food and service would put a lot of restaurants to shame. All the little extra touches from the table decorations, Prosecco, chocolates, and heart shaped shortbread certainly made it feel like a very special occasion. I know the only complaint my father has is that there is too food much but he must be enjoying it he rarely misses a meal! Thank you all for the respect and valuable support you provide to my dad."

"Since my mum moved into Barchester Lochduhar Care Home, the staff have been wonderful. They are very friendly and helpful towards my mum and myself every time I visit. They have helped her adjust to being in a care home, especially when she is agitated and confused (she has dementia)."

Our father is in excellent hands and is in a safe and secure nursing home. He enjoys daily activities to help his physical mobility and mental stimulation as well as helping him integrate with other residents. The home is clean and well-staffed. The staff go the extra mile. Lochduhar care home looked after my Nana in her later stages of life.

She lived her last year here for about a year and she absolutely thrived.

The staff were amazing. Everytime we went to visit, you could tell she was being looked after.

There are loads of activities on throughout the week and you could really tell the residents enjoy them!

Thanks to all the team at Lochduhar for looking after my Nana, you really gave her the best quality of life in her latter year.

"Barchester Lochduhar Care Home is a really nice place for your loved one to live. Staff are caring and look after the residents well. Staff are very approachable if you have questions/queries regarding loved ones. Residents are kept clean and tidy. Lots of varied activities for residents and can be adapted to suit residents capabilities. Also cater for varied dietary needs. This is the second family member in here and if I had to choose again for a loved one, this would be my first choice if elderly mentally infirm unit was needed."

Our music group occasionally play a few songs for the residents here and I also note how well the staff members interact with the residents, they always seem kind and considerate even under sometimes difficult circumstances.

"Mum moved in earlier this year. From the very start, the staff have been so welcoming, caring and compassionate not just to my mum but also to my dad who visits daily. As a family, we have so appreciated their care and feel so fortunate that Mum has got a space in Lochduhar where we know she is being very well cared for. "My mum has been a resident of Lochduhar for 12 months. The staff here made this transition from home to care home the best it could possibly be, for all of us as a family, but particularly for my dad who was Mum's sole caregiver for 15 years. It has been a difficult time for Mum; however, the staff at Lochduhar make him (and us) so welcome and treat us all like extended family. Mum is more settled, and I feel has actually improved, thanks to every member of the team."

"The month began with my husband recovering from a nasty chest infection - during which he had lost a reasonable amount of weight. He was weighed and dieticians visited. He has meal supplements and all is progressing. On February 14th we were honoured along with other couples and residents to a beautiful restaurant menu meal. The food, table dressing and ambience was excellent and memories of happiness were made. As I was unable to come for the Valentine's lunch owing to a family friend's funeral, my husband and I were dined in the late afternoon and then followed the love song concert."

"Extraordinary care and kindness at a most difficult time for our family. Genuine interest in my mother-in-law's personal story/likes and dislikes. Communication excellent from the care team with attention to detail and true professionalism. We only planned for her to stay temporarily, but we couldn't leave in the end. They were all wonderful. Today the home took a group to lunch on the river. Fun in the sun. The first time Mum, Dad and I have been out together since December 2022. "From day one, my mum has been treated superbly by all at Barchester Lochduhar Care Home. Staff are extremely welcoming and nothing is any trouble. Communication is first-class and, from my perspective, I have had complete peace of mind since my mum began to live here. Quite clearly staff selection is very good and quite clearly the home is managed superbly with a genuine passion for residents and their families' well-being.
