Activities at Lochduhar Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Lochduhar Care Home

Cheese and wine evening

Back by popular demand, we’ve held another cheese and wine evening! These are always really popular and residents said it was a nice treat for a quiet evening! They had the choice of different wine, beer and soft drinks as well as an array of cheeses and fruit to choose from thanks to the kitchen team!

Tending to the garden

Residents have been tending to the gardens, whether it be watering flowers, tidying up or just admiring the fruits of their labour! The gardens have done well this year as residents have enjoyed being out in the sunshine keeping a close eye on all the plants and trees. Well done to all our residents!

Musical mystery tour

Our homes had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.

Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.

The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.

Afternoon tea

We held an afternoon tea at the beginning of National Afternoon Tea week. Residents tucked in to some delicious home-made sandwiches, scones, cakes and fruit especially prepared by the homes hospitality team.  What a treat we had, it was lovely!

Hawaiian Theme!

We recently had a Hawaiian themed afternoon here at Lochduhar. This theme was chosen by some of our residents. They made some bunting and they donned their grass skirts and garlands. The kitchen team prepared some delicious fruits and some mock tail and cocktails. They chose some Hawaiian music and also some 50s and 60s music too.

Residents enjoy Summer variety show

We have recently welcome North East Producers for a live performance of their Summer Variety Show, That’s Life which was held in our gardens. There were two entertainers, Doris (played by Saskia) and Frank (played by Matt) Our residents thoroughly enjoy the performance, they sang along, clapped their hands and danced in their chairs. It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
