Activities at Lawton Manor Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Chloe Cameron

Activities Coordinator

This is Chloe and she is our Activities Coordinator here at Lawton Manor. Her job is to physically and mentally stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. She wants to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.

Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that Chloe holds very close to her heart. It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we host for them. A lot of our residents also enjoy our special trips out on our Minibus as we create new, special memories together.

Christmas Bake Off

Residents enjoyed a bake off day making mince pies and Christmas cakes.  The pastry was a lovely buttery shortcrust, the cake decorating was perfect and the treats were just delicious!

This is not just food....This is Lawton Manor Food!

Chef Nick has made and decorated our magnificent Christmas cake and topped it off with a towering Croquembouch!  We are delighted to be able to present this beautiful, elegant and no doubt delicious cake to our residents

Throughout December, Residents have been busy counting down to Christmas with their busy life enrichment programme filled with fun-filled festive activities.

We have been busy making festive decorations to display around our home and making our Christmas cakes, starting them early so we could ‘feed’ them with brandy or sherry and leaving plenty of time for them to mature before decorating and entering into Barchester’s annual Christmas cake competition

New visiting suite for home

Residents are overjoyed at Lawton Manor care home in Church Lawton, as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a designated visiting suite for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.

Balancing resident wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of Barchester Healthcare’s thinking and they understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.

There has been much careful planning and preparation for this moment by Barchester Healthcare, who run Lawton Manor care home. It was welcome news for their residents and family and friends as we enter the colder season meaning catch-ups can continue to take place, instead of, or in addition to, outdoor visiting already offered for those able.

A Trio of 90th Birthdays

It's been all about the Bake Off as we celebrated no less than three 90th Birthdays in one week.  Ladies and Gents at The Manor enjoyed afternoon tea with cakes galore.

Remembrance

We would like to thank Peter Gibson from the Good Shepherd Church in Rode Heath for kindly making our Soldier who stands in pride of place in the home's lobby area where he is surrounded by poppies made by residents, staff and their families.

We also thank Debbie Pickering whose husband is an ex Service man and works in our housekeeping department, Debbie made all the felt poppies and lead the silence on the 11th of the 11th.
