Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Claudia Canosa

Activities Lead

Claudia moved to the UK from her native South Africa with her family some 6 years ago, although her family are of Italian decent.

With a caring nature, Claudia worked for a domiciliary care company helping in people in the community before eventually working in a care home environment, working up to the role of Senior Carer.

Realising how much she enjoyed making the residents smile, Claudia has now stepped into the role of Activities Lead here at Kings Park and very much loves the interaction with our residents, who have all taken a real shine to her.

Claudia can regularly be seen with our residents in a very creative capacity, enjoying flower arranging or leading everyone in a game of good old fashioned Bingo!

When at home, Claudia is a mother to two boys and a girl and also a pet mum to the the gorgeous, Molly - a Jack Russell cross.

She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa in front of a good rom/com, with:  The Holiday, The Lakehouse and The Notebook as some of her favourites to date.

We are so happy to have her as part of the Kings Park team.

Run Run As Fast As You Can!

The Christmas season wouldn’t be festive without Gingerbread men!

Here are some of our residents baking some for our afternoon tea and they sure were tasty!

And the winner is.............!

Congratulations to Teresa Trickett for winning our Christmas Hamper Competition!

Lucy, our Home Services Advisor, delivered the prize in person this afternoon in time for Christmas and was delighted to have a chat with Teresa about Christmas plans. Teresa also mentioned how lovely it is to see what our residents and staff get up to at Kings Park!

From trips to Monkey World , bowling in our large foyer, Barn Owls flying onto our residents hands to a visit from Kelloggs, the Miniature Shetland Pony ….the first three months since Kings Park opened has certainly been a hive of activities!

Well done Teresa! Merry Christmas from all of us at Kings Park!

Kelloggs Comes to Kings Park

When Kelloggs makes our day even more special!

It’s not every day a very smartly dressed miniature Shetland Pony knocks on your door for some shelter from the cold wind and rain but we were delighted to welcome Kelloggs and his human friends to Kings Park today for some well needed respite care….especially at Christmas!

Once inside our warm and welcoming Home, Kelloggs was keen to meet our residents and delight them with his warm and snuffling muzzle.

One of our hostess’s, Jo, was eager to ensure every resident had the opportunity to meet Kelloggs and helped him in and out of the lift!

Every touch and memory is so very special.

Thank you to Linking Hearts therapy horses for your very special visit to our home today. Merry Christmas to Kelloggs and you All!

Christmas Cake for Ferndown Mayor's Coffee Morning

Our Chef baked a tasty Christmas Cake for the Mayor of Ferndown’s Christmas Carol Concert that was due to be held last Wednesday.

Unfortunately, due to new government restrictions and our own first consideration being the safety of our residents, we had to hold back from attending and then, sadly, the event was cancelled too with the Mayor putting safety first as well.

What to do with the cake then?!

Well we asked The Mayor to choose a local group that she would like us to give the cake to and so this morning, Home Services Advisor, Lucy Lester together with her colleague Alison delivered the cake to a coffee morning held and supported by the Mayor at the Barrington Theatre in Ferndown!

It was a pleasure to meet the Mayor and all the coffee morning attendees and to wish them all a very Merry Christmas!

Special thanks to our Mayor of Ferndown and Kate from Ferndown Town Council
