Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Claudia Canosa

Activities Lead

Claudia moved to the UK from her native South Africa with her family some 6 years ago, although her family are of Italian decent.

With a caring nature, Claudia worked for a domiciliary care company helping in people in the community before eventually working in a care home environment, working up to the role of Senior Carer.

Realising how much she enjoyed making the residents smile, Claudia has now stepped into the role of Activities Lead here at Kings Park and very much loves the interaction with our residents, who have all taken a real shine to her.

Claudia can regularly be seen with our residents in a very creative capacity, enjoying flower arranging or leading everyone in a game of good old fashioned Bingo!

When at home, Claudia is a mother to two boys and a girl and also a pet mum to the the gorgeous, Molly - a Jack Russell cross.

She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa in front of a good rom/com, with:  The Holiday, The Lakehouse and The Notebook as some of her favourites to date.

We are so happy to have her as part of the Kings Park team.

Comic Relief

Kings Park held a ‘Tasty Cupcake Lucky Dip’ in support of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day today.

Our amazing Chefs, Sarah and Sue, baked some lovely cupcakes and hid a cherry in some of them. Whoever found a cherry won a prize!

Chef Sarah also baked a Red Nose cake for the residents to enjoy with afternoon tea.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and bought a cupcake. We raised £28 for Comic Relief.

We also discovered that we have some comedians amongst our residents, who told us some of their funniest jokes!

Kings Park enjoys St. Patrick’s Day in style!

What a great day we had celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

The winner of our ‘Name the Leprechauns’ competition was announced.  Breada was delighted to win with the names 'Whiskey and Guinness' and then she very kindly gave them to the home so all our residents can continue to see what other mischievous antics they get up to! Thank you Breada

Lunch was an Irish Stew, which according to one of our Irish residents was ‘Spot on’! Desserts were an Apple and Whisky Tart plus a Baileys Cheesecake! They were delicious

We then had a St. Patrick’s Day church service live streamed from St. Barnabas Cathedral in Nottingham, where one of our resident’s used to visit regularly.

Following the service, we had an Irish Quiz with some interesting facts about the Emerald Island. Did you know that 23 of 46 USA Presidents have an Irish heritage?!

Whilst discussing all things Irish, our wonderful Chef prepared and served some very tasty homemade cheese straws and sausage rolls, which were thoroughly enjoyed alongside a glass of Guinness! Whiskey and Guinness were keen to join in too!

Leprechauns at Dawn

The elves on the shelves might be away but the leprechauns at dawn are proving to be just as mischievous!

Just look at what these two got up to early this morning!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from all of us at Kings Park

St. Patrick's Day Preparations

When Macy and Archy came to play

Our Home Service Advisor brought in her two pups, Macy and Archy, and the residents loved seeing them again.

They visited some residents in their bedrooms but they were delighted to meet Joan in the lounge on our Memory Lane as Joan was keen to give them a tummy rub and some treats!

Both Macy and Archy are keen to visit again soon as they really enjoy the attention they get and the confidence and love they give to residents.

The Creature Teachers

We absolutely love a visit from our furry and scaly friends at The Creature Teachers! Their dedicated human team, Jade and Lisa, are also always welcome as they give us so much information about each animal including what their natural habitats are and what they love to eat for supper!

From Kingsley the snake to Percy the rabbit, every resident was enthralled with the information and delighted with the opportunity to get close and personal with each lovely animal.

Thank you Jade and Lisa, and all of your amazing animals for a detailed, informative and very enjoyable afternoon!
