Activities at Kings Park Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Angela Cawsey
Activities Lead
Hello, I am Angela the Activities Lead.
I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.
With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!
During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.
Celebrating life at Kings Park Care Home
Out in the Community!
A few of our ladies enjoyed a walk to Ferndown Library yesterday to join the Visually Impaired Café.
We heard a wonderful talk from the lovely Tori, who shared fascinating stories about the New Forest airfields and their role in the war effort. She’s had a passion for the subject since childhood — after finding bullets while walking there with her gran!
Everyone had a great time and we want to thank you for having us!
Tea, Cake & Festival Vibes!
Our Home Services Advisor, Jane, volunteered alongside other members of the The Dorset Federation of Women's Institutes at the Dorset WI Tea and Cake tent at Camp Bestival Dorset – and it’s much more than just tea and cake!
They serve up a delicious brew alongside a menu, including bacon rolls, freshly made sandwiches and subs throughout the day and of course, an irresistible selection of homemade cakes.
Jane took along a car full of sweet treats generously donated by Barchester we supplied scrumptious Victoria sponge cupcakes and traybakes! and a huge thanks to sister homes: Parley Place for their zingy lemon drizzles and Hyacinth House for their delicious brownies!
They had 3 very successful days and to give you an idea of the scale of the operation they sold: 652 sandwiches, 452 Sub Rolls 550 bacon rolls 2200 slices of cake and 1700 cups of tea/coffee!
She even had a visit from our very own Home Manager, Jenna!
Beer Tasting – Round Two!
After the success of our last beer tasting day, we brought it back – but this time, a couple of our residents came along to the shops to help pick the beers!
It was another hit with the gents. The Fursty Ferret and a classic Cornish ale were firm favourites. And Gerry who’s never really had a taste for Guinness, gave it another try… and ended up rather enjoying it!
Cheers to good company, great beer!
Malcolm’s Biodanaza Variety Hour Hits All the Right Notes!
We had a lot of fun by Malcolm’s Variety Hour, which featured a joyful mix of music and movement, a lively music quiz and poetry. We really enjoy this high energy and uplifting session there is something for everyone!
The Creative Happiness Club's Growing!
What a lovely afternoon at Eleanor Green’s ‘The Creative Happiness Club’ here at Kings Park! The group’s been steadily growing and we had a fantastic turnout with lots of laughter, great conversation, creativity and even a birthday to celebrate.
Everyone’s welcome to join us! We meet every Monday afternoon, it’s completely free and on the second Monday of the month we gather at The White Heather in Ferndown instead. Come along we’d love to see you there!
Good luck to the Lionesses!
We’re gathered and watching with bated breath here at Kings Park Care Home—cheering you on every step of the way! Let’s bring it home!
Wishing Roadie a Happy Retirement!
We said a very special goodbye and happy retirement to our much-loved pet therapy dog, Roadie. For the past few years, Roadie and his lovely owner Terry have visited our residents regularly bringing comfort, joy and always with a wagging tail.
It was an emotional send-off, with everyone gathering to say thank you. Eric, was especially touched, he’s been saving a sausage every Tuesday just for Roadie!
As a small token of our gratitude, Roadie received some tasty treats and a gift voucher, though no present could ever match what he’s given us.
Thank you, Terry, for your kindness and dedication. And Roadie, enjoy your well-earned retirement! You’ll always have a special place in our hearts.
Live Entertainment at Kings Park
We had a great afternoon with the return of Nigel Revill - Lone Reveller Music, who came in to entertain us. His performance went down a treat and there was plenty of singing along, a lot of dancing and a lovely atmosphere throughout.
Always a pleasure to have him back and look forward to the next time!
We’ve had a busy and meaningful day at Kings Park today!
We started with Pippa’s Exercise to Music – a fun and energising way to kick off the morning. Then Neil Wookie joined us with a great set of 50s and 60s favourites – plenty of toe-tapping and singing along.
At lunchtime, we welcomed the local community for our Don’t Dine Alone event – a chance to share good food and company
This afternoon’s Sherry Social marked Nelson Mandela Day. We got creative with painting, and Audrey read out some of Mandela’s story. It was especially touching for one of our residents, originally from Cape Town.
