Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Life at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

St George's Day

St George's Day

At Iddenshall Hall, we celebrated St George's Day by decorating the home with red and white flowers, which the residents pre-arranged the day before. We had flags and hand-made decorations on all the tables and throughout the home. Residents enjoyed a themed quiz and puzzles throughout the day, which we had left out in the dining room for them to start whilst having their breakfast and to finish as the day went on. Staff wore St George's Day masks and had flags painted on their faces too. We had popular British music from throughout the years playing across the home.

Resident Chuffed with Her New Chair

Barchester's Charitable Foundation recently gave a £750 grant to one of Iddenshall Hall's residents, so that she would be able to get a reclining chair. Ultimately, the chair will help improve mobility and allow her to move around more independently without the aid of carers.

A Taste of French Culture

A Taste of French Culture

As a gentle introduction to our upcoming Country-themed days, we held a French evening at Iddenshall Hall.

The newest member of our Activities Team, Helen, dressed up for the occasion and served French bread with Brie and Camembert, as well as red wine, whilst treating the residents to a showing of Les Miserables on the main screen in the Lounge.

Both staff and residents enjoyed the food and the culture. Earlier in the day Helen had put together a French-themed quiz which the residents enjoyed during the afternoon.

Easter with the Memory Lane Theatre Company

Easter with the Memory Lane Theatre Company

For Easter this year, we celebrated with an "Easter Bonnet" show from the Memory Lane Theatre Company. Joe and Susan put on a great show with lots of singing and dancing and plenty of audience participation. They even had Lynne (our Senior Activities Coordinator) dress up as an Easter bunny and dance around, much to everyone's amusement.

As always, they put on a great show and residents from both Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View had a thoroughly entertaining afternoon.

We took some of the residents from Iddenshall Hall and we were joined at the Community Centre by some members of the local WI, a lovely local resident from Tarvin and her friend and also some mothers and their toddlers from Tarvin school came along. We did word search puzzles, anagrams, proverbs and a general knowledge quiz. Those who joined in enjoyed themselves and we all enjoyed freshly made cupcakes, made by our chef Sean and lots of tea and coffee.

Next months theme is "Pampering", we will be doing manicures, foot spas and massages so everyone will be getting spoiled.
