Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Life at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Bridgemere Garden Centre

Bridgemere Garden Centre

We recently took some Iddenshall Hall Residents to Bridgemere Garden Centre, just outside Nantwich.

It is the largest garden centre in the North West with 6 acres of gardens to walk around and enjoy. We were very lucky with the weather and the sun was shining, so we were able to take our time looking around the gardens and enjoying all the lovely flowers and plants that there were to see. We had a picnic lunch on our way to the garden centre and once there we enjoyed a cuppa in the coffee shop. There is so much to see there, with lots of shops and everything you could possibly need for your garden.

The residents all had a lovely day and we look forward to returning again soon.

Macmillan Coffee Afternoon

Macmillan Coffee Afternoon

We held our Macmillan Coffee Afternoon at Beeston View this month. We had plenty of different types of cakes available for residents and visitors to sample, including lemon and prosecco cheesecake, white chocolate and cranberry cheesecake, gingerbread cheesecake, cherry bakewells, apple pies and chocolate brownies, all of which went down very well with folks at the home.

We had support from some families who came along and donated whilst enjoying coffee, tea and cake.

Africa Day

Africa Day

On 15th September, we held our 'Africa Day' at Iddenshall Hall. We decorated the unit with pictures chosen by residents, as well as African flags and maps. Our Chef, John, and his team, prepared some African dishes for the day, including Babute (a ground beef dish baked with spices and apricots) and Tunisian Lamb Chakchouka (lamb pieces and egg cooked in a spiced tomato sauce), which were a great success. These were both served with rice and a bean salad.

We held an African quiz in the afternoon and also shared some interesting facts about Africa itself, as well as the people who live there. It was an educational, yet fun afternoon, and we had African music playing in the background from Ladysmith Black Mombasa.

Cupcake Decorating

Cupcake Decorating

Residents at Iddenshall Hall have spent a lot of time decorating cupcakes. They loved choosing different coloured icing and toppings for their cupcakes and were able to enjoy the fruits of their labour, as we served them for pudding that evening after tea.

Enjoying a Picnic

Enjoying a Picnic

We took a trip to a lovely local picnic spot to enjoy lunch out and some fresh air, making the most of the weather before the autumn kicks in. We enjoyed sandwiches, cakes and refreshments in the sunshine and had some lovely conversations about upcoming activities. Some of the residents had a little walk around to stretch their legs and others just enjoyed being outside.

Italian Day at Iddenshall Hall

Italian Day at Iddenshall Hall

We celebrated Italian Day at Iddenshall Hall on 18th August.

We started the day with cappuccinos and lattes in the lounge and we shared some trivia and history about Italy in our discussion group. In the afternoon, we held an Italian-themed quiz and in the evening, after tea, we played Italian music and enjoyed limoncella liqueur whilst we did some pampering and enjoyed a few games of dominoes. It was an interesting and enjoyable day all round.
