Activities at Hurstwood View Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lisa Everson

Activities Coordinator & Speak Up Champion

I’m Lisa, Activities Coordinator here at Hurstwood View.

I’ve been working at Hurstwood View in varying departments since 2017, shortly after the birth of my second child. With a strong background in Marketing, events, and community engagement - Activities is a great fit for me! I love arranging events and making a difference to our residents’ day.  I’ve never danced so much since working here, no day is ever the same, and we really do have so much fun!

Life at Hurstwood View Care Home

,

Carers Week

Staff were treated to chocolates, smellies and wine donated by local businesses, as well as a party with nibbles, drinks and a time to relax.

Residents also gave thanks by creating a photoboard of pictures, sending cards and arranging a gift tombola for the staff from prizes donated by them and their families. Staff also video called and sent letters to family members who have been unable to visit due to lockdown, but whom also give so much support to their loved ones and carers in the home.

Fish & Chips

Residents enjoyed a fish & chip supper supplied by local takeaway, Happy Cod. All the staff joined in and wore their takeaway hats whilst residents enjoyed eating their dinner out of the paper.

VE Day Celebrations

We celebrated VE Day with an afternoon tea party from our bedroom doors with a specially adapted trolley to commemorate 75 years since the end of the Second World War.

Residents also celebrated the occasion by making bunting to decorate our home, and joining local musicians online for a live singalong in the afternoon. We then tucked into a delicious selection of homemade cream teas, fresh strawberries and cream, and a tipple of Pimm's.

Easter Celebrations

Easter was spent gifting residents and staff with a variety of treats. We had an Easter-themed tombola, hot cross buns and Pimm's—and the Easter bunny even visited!

National Tea Day

We are all set for National Tea Day here at Hurstwood View.

Musical Magic

Our team at Hurstwood view are a talented bunch; carer, Michelle, and Activities coordinator, Samantha, dusted off their flutes to perform for residents as an Easter treat.
