Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Busy Easter Weekend

Happy Easter from Hunters. It was a busy weekend, with chocolate treats for everyone on Sunday, an Easter quiz with hot cross buns and sherry and then on Saturday we had our pet therapy dog Mayhem visiting.  It didn't end there with musical entertainment on Monday with folk and country singer Andy Yapp.  The team received an Easter treat with Resident Ambassador Bobby handing out the eggs to the staff as a small token in recognition of all of their continued hard work and dedication.

Hunter's Wildlife

It’s amazing what you can see out of your bed room window. Hunter’s resident Elizabeth was delighted to see deer wandering the grounds outside of her room. The deer are regular visitors along with a multitude of wild birds and animals for the nature lover to spot in the grounds at Hunters. One of the homes greatest assets is its beautiful location surrounded by lovely gardens, walks and wildlife.

Carpet Boules Gets Competitive!

This afternoon it was the serious business of carpet boules at Hunters. Things always get a bit competitive during afternoon games, even a simple practice session. It still remains a mystery how the ball can be pitched wide of the jack and still manage to swerve inwards or outwards and end up touching it.

Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Rachael Foord who has been named as Employee of the Month here at Hunters. Rachael is part of our care team usually working at night. Her nominations said that she is kind, considerate and hardworking, a great team player who is always willing to help, well done Rachael.

Kindness from Local Nursery Children

We would like to say a big thank you to the children from the Duke of Gloucester Nursery Group for the beautiful art work they sent the residents for World Kindness Day, The residents from our Memory Lane Community had great fun making the drawings into a lovely collage which filled and brightened up the whole wall.
