Activities at Henford House Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in, as well as visits from PAT dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our cheese & wine nights, pub evening, quiz nights and special occasions such as, Guy Fawkes, Easter and Christmas where we like to encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Henford House is fun and active.

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Life at Henford House Care Home
NHS Rainbows
Residents at Henford have been busy making rainbows in support of our NHS staff at this difficult time. They have been displayed in our window for all to see. We even received a lovely email from a neighbour along with a picture of her 3 year old with her rainbow. They had seen the pictures during their walk and wanted to share their own rainbow with the residents.
A Big Thank You from Henford House
Smiles were bought to resident and staffs faces on Monday 22nd March when they received a delivery of flowers, kindly donated from the Manager and Staff of Waitrose. Everyone was quite overwhelmed with this lovely gesture and spirits were raised at this difficult time.
As the home is currently closed to visitors and residents are unable to see their families due to the recent Coronavirus outbreak, it was lovely to see the local community thinking of others and we all thank everyone at Waitrose from the bottom of our hearts.
St Patrick's Day
Residents and staff at Henford House celebrated all things Irish for their St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Saint Patrick's Day is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17th March and celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. Celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals, cèilidhs, and the wearing of green attire or shamrocks, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.
In honour of the patron saint of Ireland, staff and residents at the home marked the day by enjoying an Irish singalong, followed by a quiz all about St Patrick’s Day.
The people who live and work here at Henford House have really enjoyed the festivities. We’ve had everything, from singing, Irish liquors to staff & residents dressing up in fancy dress, and everyone was really keen to get involved.”
Henford Supports the British Legion & Stroke Club
Henford House recently hosted a cheque presentation for the Stroke Club to The Royal British Legion for a total of £148. The care home welcomed the stroke club to their community lunch back in October and each member that came donated money towards the charity.
Henford House has built up excellent reputations within its local community, regularly holding events and activities for residents and surrounding neighbours.
Natalie James, General Manager at Henford House, said: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities. The Royal British Legion is very close to our hearts here at Henford and members regularly attend our events and have lunch with our residents”.
Knit & Natter Community
Henford House invited the local community to join them for a knit and natter workshop at the home. The workshop took place on Tuesday 4th February, members from the community came along to help the residents and staff knit pouches for the wildlife affected by the recent bushfires in Australia, such as baby kangaroos.
The hospitality team at the home also served a spread of cakes with tea for all to enjoy. All the knitted items will be sent to Australia with the help of local shop owner Katie from Yarn for the Soul.
General Manager Natalie James said: “It was really nice to get together with the residents and members of the community to help such a fantastic cause. It has inspired us to invite Katie, our local celebrity knitting guru, to join us on the 1st Tuesday of every month to instruct and guide us with our seasonal craft projects, the local community are welcome to come and join in the fun 10.30am-12pm”.
Burns Night Capers at Henford House
Henford House care home in Warminster prepared a traditional Burns Night lunch to the tune of bagpipes played by piper Billie! Staff and residents at the home enjoyed some interesting facts about the history of the bag pipes and how each song played would have been used in battle. Billie also played several songs on request and was happy to answer any questions the residents asked.
General Manager, Natalie James, at Henford House, thought it was a perfect occasion to celebrate a day steeped in age-old tradition. She said: “Our residents have enjoyed a hearty meal of Broccoli and Stilton soup, Haggis with neeps and tatties all prepared by our stellar Chef, Lorelle.
One resident said: “I enjoyed acting out the part of the whisky-bearer and asking everyone to raise a dram to toast the Haggis.”
