Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home
The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

Festive Afternoon Tea
We received a very warm welcome from staff at the local hotel, Statham Lodge Hotel, where residents were joined by family members to enjoy the treats on offer.
Several of our residents have very fond memories of attending functions at the Statham Lodge, Olive was delighted to share stories of her younger days meeting the chaps at the dances there.
Dear Father Christmas...
In the midst of all the decorations, Christmas music, parties, outings and fun and games it seemed very appropriate to have some quiet reflective time whilst keeping the Christmas spirit.
We wrote letters to Father Christmas, it was a delightful time of gentle reminiscence and thoughtfulness as residents wishes and desires for the festive season were far less material than the letters they might have written as children.
Banding together with the Salvation Army
The Salvation Army Brass Band playing in the streets is synonymous to Christmas and a memory many of our residents hold dear.
The first ever Salvation Army band. which played its first concert on Christmas Day 1879 in Consett, County Durham, was founded by a young iron worker in the village and some fellow converts to support the work of The Salvation Army.
Brass bands were a very big part of mining communities in the 19th Century and soon the numbers grew beginning a heart-warming Christmas tradition.
145 years Salvation Army Bands are still recreating the joy of Christmas and our residents were delighted for that joy to be brought to them by The Warrington Salvation Army Band both in the home at Cheshire Grange & a visit to their church for their Christmas Concert.
Remembrance Day Commemoration
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.
We remember those close to us who severed their country, not only going into battle but on the home front.
During a week of reflection there were many inspirational stories shared.
As part of our Remembrance weekend activities, we once again welcomed Simon and members of the congregation from Lymm Baptist Church for a reflective Remembrance Service.
Residents joined in with hymns prayers and enjoyed an address from Ralph about the a very special medal he had brought in.
Autumn Sunshine
The pumpkin field that borders Cheshire Grange is always a source of interest to our residents, especially when its busy at the weekends with lots of people there.
The ladies on Memory Lane were waving to the pumpkin pickers through the windows but without much response.
So we saw this as a perfect opportunity to go out in the beautiful autumn sunshine for a closer look.
All Shook Up!
Elvis impersonator, Lee Newsome had residents All Shook Up as he took them on a journey through an amazing back catalogue of songs.
Some of the songs were very familiar, others not so well known, but still amazing.
Elvis made everybody in the room feel very special and they all agreed they Couldn’t Help Falling in Love with Elvis!
