Activities at Bluebell Park Care Home
Here at Bluebell Park our aim is to enrich the lives of our residents, through group, and individual activities.
We have a wide range of activities designed to mentally, and physically stimulate the people we care for, including regular trips out in the mini bus, and taking part in the community led events that happen in the village we live in. We hold monthly resident meetings so our planning reflects their wishes, and requests, for example we now hold a regular bingo club (which residents families love to attend) and a bowling afternoon which the gentlemen here particularly enjoy. Entertainers and musicians regularly come into the home and families and friends are always welcome to attend too.
Activities are one of the most important aspects of our care home, and we strive to have a full range on offer. Our team here at Bluebell are dedicated to ensuring our residents enjoy, and get as much out of our entertainment as possible. It is without a doubt our mission is to make sure that life at Bluebell is active, fun, and most of all happy.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Bluebell Park Care Home
English National Ballet
We celebrated Remembrance Day with English National Ballet Associate Dance Artist, Richard Bermange, who led a creative dance workshop for our residents followed by a special extract of Akram Khan’s work Dust, premiered in 2014 as part of ENB’s Lest We Forget programme, commemorating the First World War.
ENB company dancers, Erina Takahashi and James Streeter performed the extract and provided some insight into this moving work.
Our residents had a wonderful time as they listened, danced and were able to singalong to famous war time music performed by ENB Associate Musician, Matt Hartley-Stevens.
A community gift
The home has been kindly donated a selection of hand knitted blankets from our local Church. Here’s one of our Residents admiring the blankets.
Baking club
Residents from Bluebell Park enjoyed an afternoon of fruit cake making as part of their baking masterclass which took them back to their younger years. Baking sessions are a popular activity for the home and the activity had taste buds tingling.
Rachel Smith, Senior General Manager said: “The residents enjoyed getting creative with their baking as it not only brings back memories of their childhood, but also times when they’ve baked with their own children and grandchildren. Once all the cakes were set, we all enjoyed sitting down with a cup of tea to enjoy!”
World's Biggest Coffee Morning
In recognition of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, we hosted our very own garden event for friends, families and community members to raise funds for the charity.
The garden was specially decorated for the occasion, our talented chef prepared a variety of cakes, cupcakes and delicious treats following Macmillan Cancer Support’s recipes and we all got involved in fun-filled games.
We all had a wonderful day raising funds for this lovely cause.
Birthday Celebrations
We celebrated a 100th birthday with a selection of hot drinks and homemade cake. Family visited for the special occasion, and they watched her open gifts.
Sea Life Trust Beluga Whales
We took a wonderful virtual trip to Iceland and visited the SEA LIFE Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary to have an inside look into the daily care of their two resident beluga whales: Little White and Little Grey.
Our residents were introduced to the history of the Beluga Whale Sanctuary and learnt more about its mission to provide a more natural home for belugas in human care with a first-hand look at how the dedicated team are not only caring for the whales, but preparing for their future in the sea sanctuary!
It was an enjoyable event for everyone, learning more about the amazing beluga whales and how they are cared for at the sanctuary.
