Bluebell Park Care Home in Derby

Bluebell Park is an elderly care home in Derby and first opened its doors in October 2010. Our nursing home is purpose-built and specifically designed to deliver first class quality residential and nursing care for older people. Featuring 64 en-suite rooms furnished to an exceptional standard, our Memory Lane Community is dedicated to providing stimulation and excellent care to those living with dementia, in a homely yet secure environment.

With individual care plans based on the needs of our residents, we treat each one as an individual. Learning about life stories and then undertaking reminiscence work with them is as important to us as it is for the people that live with us - this valuable work helps us to connect with our residents on a personal level and enhance the overall care package that we offer to them. Memory boxes are a key feature on our resident’s doors and we encourage families and residents to fill these with personal memorabilia, which are used to great effect to help each person reminisce. With features such as sensory gardens with low risk walkways and lifestyle kitchens we are here to enable people to engage in life's everyday tasks and pleasures. Essential to our homely feel is the enhanced relationship of trust we build with family and friends as well as with our residents.

Visiting us is essential to help you with visualising the experience of living with us here at Bluebell Park. So why not arrange a visit today or call in and share a cup of tea or coffee with us and see for yourself just how we may be able to meet your needs - whether now or in the future?

Types of care

Bluebell Park provides person-centred care for older people within our purpose-built home. We are able to provide care for those living with dementia on our Memory Lane community, as well as providing residential care to older people on Bramble Way and nursing care on Woodland View. We understand that individuality needs to be recognised, and so care needs are based on personal assessments completed prior to admission then updated on a monthly basis. We believe in maintaining independence where possible and encourage residents and their families to be involved in care planning and decision making.

Prathap Paulson Junjuri

Deputy Manager

I started working at Bluebell in September 2017 and I believe that it was one of the best decisions I've ever made for my career. Bluebell is a lovely place – a home away from home – and I strive to make sure it feels like that for others too.

I qualified as a nurse in 2011 in India and moved to the UK in 2016. In my life, I have always aimed higher and we are striving to see Bluebell receive an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the CQC for the exceptional work the staff do every day. I’m passionate about ensuring that we maintain the high standards we set ourselves.

Jonathan Trout

Musical Therapist

Before getting into music therapy, I was a violinist and conductor. Through this career, I had experienced the enormous enrichment that music provides and the idea of working in music therapy had been bubbling in me for some time. However, it was a conversation in a pub which finally spurred me to do it; I was talking to a violinist who plays in an orchestra I conduct. She is a music therapist and asked if I would like to spend a day with her as an assistant. I did this and it is true to say it was a life changing experience. I came straight home, got on the internet and tracked down a course with Nordoff Robbins.

I graduated with my Master's degree in 2013 and have been working at Bluebell Park ever since. It wasn’t my first time at the home though, as I spent my placement year working here!

Hi, my name is Jordan and I have been at Bluebell Park since November 2017, and I have always loved gardening.

In 2013, I completed a horticulture course and obtained NVQ Levels 1 and 2. I plan to make the gardens at Bluebell Park a place for residents and loved ones to relax, whilst enjoying my hobby and extending my knowledge of horticulture.

I feel lucky to have the opportunity to work in such a quality garden and it is great to do what I love as a job.
