Bluebell Park Care Home in Derby
Bluebell Park is an elderly care home in Derby and first opened its doors in October 2010. Our nursing home is purpose-built and specifically designed to deliver first class quality residential and nursing care for older people.
Dementia Care
Bluebell Park has a dedicated Memory Lane Community that provides a safe, homely environment for people living with dementia, which has been designed following these guidelines ensuring the care we provide supports residents’ freedom of choice. We aim to maintain their life-skills, improving their self-esteem and helping them to maintain and develop their independence while they are living with us.
Staff undertake specialist dementia care training developed by our team of Dementia Care Specialists and academic partners, the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University. Together they ensure our training programmes are informed by the very latest thinking. We ensure that the people we support feel comfortable and safe in their surrounding environment, helping ensure they live life with dementia to the full.
Choosing a care home for a loved one or friend who may be experiencing dementia can be difficult and we have created a guide to showcase how we ‘Enrich the lives of people living with dementia’ in our care home.
With individual care plans based on the needs of our residents, we treat each one as an individual. Learning about life stories and then undertaking reminiscence work with them is as important to us as it is for the people that live with us - this valuable work helps us to connect with our residents on a personal level and enhance the overall care package that we offer to them. Memory boxes are a key feature on our residents' doors and we encourage families and residents to fill these with personal memorabilia, which are used to great effect to help each person reminisce. With features such as sensory gardens with low risk walkways and lifestyle kitchens we are here to enable people to engage in life's everyday tasks and pleasures. Essential to our homely feel is the enhanced relationship of trust we build with family and friends as well as with our residents.
Visiting us is essential to help you with visualising the experience of living with us here at Bluebell Park. So why not arrange a visit today or call in and share a cup of tea or coffee with us and see for yourself just how we may be able to meet your needs - whether now or in the future?

Our 'Paying to live in a care home' guide is designed to try and help you understand more about the funding options available and what to consider when choosing a care home.

Types of care
Bluebell Park provides person-centred care for older people within our purpose-built home. We are able to provide care for those living with dementia on our Memory Lane community, as well as providing residential care to older people on Bramble Way and nursing care on Woodland View. We understand that individuality needs to be recognised, and so care needs are based on personal assessments completed prior to admission then updated on a monthly basis. We believe in maintaining independence where possible and encourage residents and their families to be involved in care planning and decision making.
