Activities at Begbrook House Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Life at Begbrook House Care Home

,

Dementia Awareness Week

In recognition of Dementia Awareness Week, we have handpicked a range of activities to support all of our residents here at Begbrook House, adding to our regular activities.

,

International Nurses' Day

We have been celebrating all the hard work that the nurses do for us here at Begbrook House. We presented them with handmade thank you cards, flowers and chocolate.

VE Day Celebrations

It’s been 75 years since the signal was given to indicate the end of WW2. We began the day by making our very own poppy wreaths, and laying them in the middle of our home for all to see. Next we joined together for 2 minutes of silence, followed by reminiscing.

After lunch we enjoyed a special VE Day concert performance specifically for our home; we listened to some of our favourite classics like, 'We’ll meet again' by Vera Lynn. To finish off the day, we enjoyed some delicious afternoon tea!

,

Baking Bread

There is nothing better than the smell of freshly baked bread, and that is what the residents here at Begbrook House have done! Of course, eating them while they are still lovely and warm is our favourite bit. Activities such as this help residents feel more independent and deliver delicious treats at the end.

Learning New Skills

We have been busy with many different activities, from watching the wildlife and capturing it on camera. We have also been doing flower arranging, and competing for the trophy in a game of skittles. Well done to our winners, Jean and Ian.

Easter Celebrations

Celebrations have been in full swing here at Begbrook House. We have done a range of activities, from decorating the home with bunting, balloons and getting crafty with Easter biscuit decorating.

The competition was fierce with our game of bingo, with a chocolate prize to be won! Well done to Jean for taking first prize.

Residents also received safe visits from their relatives with the use of the visiting suite or a strict safety protocol for a bedroom visit.

Thank you to our Head Chef for the delicious Easter menu of roast turkey dinner with a homemade bread and butter pudding with custard.

Each resident received a goody bag from Begbrook House, consisting of chocolates or flowers, to make them feel inclusive and really apart of the Easter celebrations.
