Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Luisa Painemilla

Activities Coordinator

Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.

I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.

My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Look out for our activities and events - you are welcome to join us!

Celebrating Keith's Birthday

Celebrating Keith's Birthday

Keith enjoyed celebrating his birthday with us at Beeston View. He received lots of lovely cards and presents and had two cakes - one from his wife, Linda, and one from us. We all sang Happy Birthday to him in the dining room after lunch and then he had a quiet afternoon with his family.

Flower Arranging in Spring

Flower Arranging in Spring

Spring Flowers are always popular with the residents here at Beeston View.

We have enjoyed doing some arrangements for the tables in our dining room to bring the outside in.

Jess the Music Therapist

Jess the Music Therapist

We have enjoyed another visit from our music therapist, Jess, this month. Everyone benefited hugely from music therapy; residents got the chance to participate in a good singalong and dance whilst listening to Jess singing and playing with the bubble machine.

An Adorable Visit to Beeston View

An Adorable Visit to Beeston View

We had an impromptu visit from Maria (one of our kitchen staff) and baby Oliver this week. Oliver is now five months old and he is gorgeous!

The staff and residents had cuddles and he raised plenty of smiles too.

Thanks for bringing him in Maria - it was lovely to see you both.

Card Games at Beeston View

Card Games at Beeston View

We have held card games sessions here at Beeston View recently and everyone enjoyed sorting the cards into the correct order and pairing them up. Fred, in particular, has been taken with this activity, which seems to focus his mind. It has been a worthwhile trial and one which we will continue in the coming months.

Sophie Sings for Beeston View

Sophie Sings for Beeston View

We have had another wonderful visit from Sophie Bennet, who has entertained us with her singing for an afternoon at Beeston View. The residents loved listening to the old time songs and joined in with maracas, tambourines and bells, as well as taking turns on the microphone and showing us their own singing skills. Residents and staff did some dancing together and had an entertaining afternoon.
