Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Luisa Painemilla

Activities Coordinator

Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.

I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.

My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Look out for our activities and events - you are welcome to join us!

Kitty Delight

Kitty Delight

We have had some new additions to our cat family here at Beeston View; one of our younger cats had a litter of 4 gorgeous kittens. All 4 have got homes already: 2 have gone to staff members and 2 with one of our District Nurses. They are currently all being weaned on to solid foods and are doing really well.

D.I.Y. at Beeston

D.I.Y. at Beeston

Our Head of Maintenance, Jeff, is redecorating in the upstairs dining room at the moment. He likes to get into the spirit of things and was doing his best Frank Spencer impression for the residents, which they loved!

One-to-One Sessopms

One-to-One Sessopms

We continue our regular one-to-one sessions here at Beeston View. Residents respond well to the individual attention they receive.

Tactility

Tactility

Tactility is very important to our activities team here at Beeston View. Showing individual attention through touch is vital to ensuring the well-bring of residents.

Beeston View Fun Day

Beeston View Fun Day

We held our Beeston View Fun Day recently. Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side, so we had our BBQ food indoors. We spent the afternoon doing a group bingo session for the residents and their families. It went down very well and one of our Carers did the calling for us too. Bingo is always a hit at Beeston View.

Gentleman's Club

We hosted our first ever Gentleman’s Club recently at Beeston View. The men discussed card games, table tennis and Scrabble, and watched western films, in addition to sport-related programmes.

We also decided that we would include a talk about the day’s news. The gentlemen enjoyed a glass or 3 of bitter/lager and the conversation flowed well between us all.

They all said that they were looking forward to the next one, so it is safe to say that it has proved to be a hit!
