Activities at Beeston View Memory Lane Community
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Luisa Painemilla
Hi there, I'm Luisa, Activities Co-ordinator at Iddenshall Hall.
I have worked with the elderly over 8 years and also for fifteen years in the social field as an Activities Coordinator for different social groups in three countries. I have a Degree in Social Integration, a Certificate in Theatrical Psychology and a Music Therapy certificate. In the past I have worked for local authorities and in a cerebral palsy home.
My work is very rewarding and it is a pleasure planning events and activities each month. I enjoy interacting with Residents and learning about their interests, preferences and experiences.

Life at Beeston View Memory Lane Community
Goosebumps at Beeston View
We had a breakthrough with a resident from on Beeston View's Memory Lane Community recently.
The lady has always struggled to communicate clearly, yet when writing a note to her today, she then gestured for a pen and wrote a reply for the very first time. It was one of those goosebump moments that makes our job so very rewarding here.
Easter Preparations
We have been creating some decorations for Easter with the help of residents; they have been using coloured pens and stickers to decorate eggs and we are then displaying their creations around the home. They are now able to enjoy the fruits of their labour for a couple of weeks leading up to our Easter celebrations.
Musical Entertainment
Music is universally popular at Beeston View, so we have regular musical entertainment for residents to enjoy.
John Hughes and Sophie Bennett both come in every month to perform for us, in addition to Kiddley Divey and Musical Moments. Residents love to get involved with the songs by singing along and playing instruments or dressing up.
Our entertainers always interact so well with the residents to make sure they have a lovely experience.
Art Club
Our new Art Club at Beeston View is proving very popular with the residents. They particularly enjoy the water painting; it allows them to produce lovely, artistic paintings with ease. It gives residents a sense of pride upon completion and also helps them with their fine motor skills and concentration. Residents are able to socialise whilst doing something they enjoy.
We also hosted the Art Club on our upstairs unit, which has been very successful – they really enjoyed producing their own work.
Welcome, Lucy!
We are pleased to announce the addition of a new activities team member here at Beeston View and Iddenshall Hall.
Lucy started on 6th March 2018 and will be primarily based on the downstairs unit at Beeston View, but will also be helping out at Iddenshall Hall too.
We hope she will become a long-term member of our Barchester family.

102nd Birthday Celebrations
Beeston View's oldest resident recently celebrated her 102nd birthday! We honoured the occasion with a tea party and she received a lovely cake, flowers, cards and presents. The staff spoilt her all day and she enjoyed visits from friends and family too. The unit was decorated for her with banners, special 102 balloons and streamers, so that she enjoyed her special day.
