Activities at Ashchurch View Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Home Administration Champion

Katrina Perry has beaten all the competition to be crowned Home Administration Champion in the Barchester Care Awards 2021.

The Barchester Care Awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 12,000 residents living in Barchester’s 248 care homes and private hospitals across the country. Categories range from ‘Registered Nurse of the Year’ and ‘Carer of the Year’ to ‘Dementia Care Champion’ and ‘Activities Coordinator of the Year’.

More than 2,900 nominations were received from homes and hospitals across the UK. All entries were a very high standard and Katrina is over the moon to have been named the national winner in this category.

Birthday Celebrations

It’s so heart-warming to share a resident’s 102nd birthday with them. To be able to throw a party in her honour and invite her family to the visiting pod makes it even more rewarding!

Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples – everyone can celebrate! It’s the perfect occasion to show love and affection to family and friends.

It’s also a great opportunity to decorate your home with love hearts and colourful roses around the home. Here at Ashchurch, we decorated the home and we played a Valentines Bingo game, which everyone enjoyed.

International Pen Pals

An exciting new scheme is being rolled at Ashchurch View to try and keep residents engaged in active and meaningful activities during lockdown.

Children from Japan who are studying English have been sharing information in their letters about their hobbies, how they are finding studying English in school, their favourite foods, places, what they like to eat, and asking residents lots of questions.

We have received the first bundle of letters & gifts from the school children, and we’ve been very excited to show these to residents.

It’s a really special way for residents at the home to stay connected with their Pen pals, and we are looking forward to sitting down and helping to write letters back to the children.

Christmas Time

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

The festive season is nearly upon us; with it comes excited children, decorations in our homes, gift buying, feasts and entertainment.

For many of us, Christmas is a magical & joyful time of the year. Christmas music, mulled wine and, of course, delicious pigs in blankets are enough to get the majority of us into the festive spirit!

Remembrance Day

Many of us are in the age group that we know people who have been in the military, we know people who are veterans, we know that they need to be remembered, and this was our way of trying to acknowledge each and every one of them.
