Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Diane Wood

Head of Activities

Hi, my name is Diane and  I am Head of Activities here at Archview.  I have worked in the homes since 2009.

I strongly believe in creating moments for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities, whilst remaining person centred and respecting resident’s preferences. Every day I like to ensure the residents on memory lane can enjoy themselves and have a good time whilst forming bonds with each other and the staff around them.

Outside of work,  I have a 23 years old son and a wee dog called Hugo and my ambition is to make people smile and be happy.

Life at Archview Lodge Care Home

A stroll in the garden

Now that the better weather is coming and our beautiful garden is starting to bloom our residents have been enjoying a walk around the gardens and chatting with our gardener Tom on the way.

Pizza Masterclass

Residents of Archview enjoyed a pizza masterclass as they prepared their own pizza’s using a variety of mouth-watering and delicious toppings from onion, sweetcorn, tomatoes to ham.  What’s your favourite topping?

Baking is a popular activity in the homes life enrichment programme as Residents like to continue their home skills.

Hairdressing is back on the agenda

There were happy scenes at Archview as hairdressers were finally allowed back into the home.

Just like the rest of the country, residents had been waiting patiently for months to get their hair styled and so they were delighted to be able to book in for a long overdue cut and blow dry.

Sarah Thomson, General Manager at Archview commented: “It really has felt like Christmas today, our residents are just so delighted to be able to get a good cut and to feel like themselves again.  It is wonderful to see them all so happy, we have really missed our hairdressers – it is fantastic to be able to welcome them back again.”

A breath of fresh air

Residents of Archview took to the homes beautiful garden to take advantage of the early spring sunshine to enjoy a breath of fresh air.

Everyone commented on how much better they felt for grabbing a breath of fresh air, feeling the sun on their faces and checking on the progress of the spring bulbs growing in the homes extensive grounds.
