Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman

Lead Activities Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Staff dressed up as the characters of the famous story whilst residents enjoyed a Mad Hatter tea party with all the trimmings and hilarity whilst memorable quotes from the story were recalled by all the staff and residents.

Pirate Day

Residents enjoyed a fun-filled day following a treasure map and finding a chest full of treats to enjoy. There were lots of fun games and Jolly Roger songs.

104th Birthday Celebrations

Wimborne were delighted to be able to celebrate one of our residents, who reached the grand age of 104.

Our Activities Coordinator has asked the local community to help us obtain 104 birthday cards for Doreen. We could not believe the response from the local community, businesses and from people afar as Canada.

The local primary school also joined in with the celebrations, with a couple of songs and flowers. In the afternoon, the Meridian News came and interviewed Doreen, who said she couldn’t believe she had made it on to TV at the age of 104.

International Dance Day

We had a lovely afternoon of music and dance. One of our bank members of staff, who is a professional dancer, came and performed a tap and jazz dance.

Staff and residents then joined in with a bit of dancing to some of their favourites songs which included 'Jail House Rock', 'Achy-Breaky Heart' and 'Riverdance'.

Donkey Visit

Residents thoroughly enjoyed a visit from their sponsored donkey, Rusty, and his friend, Ollie.

It had been the first time that residents have had the pleasure of meeting Rusty, who comes from the Donkey Sanctuary on Hayling island.

Rusty and Ollie had a stroll around the home, putting their heads through residents' bedroom doors and windows for a pat and introduction.

The visit was a real hit and brought many a smile.

Matt Golf

Residents had a great time enjoying a game of Matt Golf. This is a regular competition that residents thoroughly enjoy and get very competitive over.

They take turns throwing bean bags at the golf targets and whoever get the highest score is the winner. The winner is given a special chocolate treat and, most importantly, gets to keep the winner’s trophy cup.
