Activities at Wimborne Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Zoe Freeman

Lead Activities Coordinator

I have been working in care since 2019 and love the industry. I came from working on cruise ships and running events and activities there which has set me up to be a successful activities coordinator in care. You will never see me without a smile on my face and always bring my fun and bubbly personality to my job. My favourite part of my job is making people cheerful  and help make their wishes come true to show people that age is just a number and we can have fun no matter what!

Life at Wimborne Care Home

Photography Day

Residents enjoyed looking at photos the activities team had taken whilst on holiday. They were then given a quick lesson on how to use the camera and take photos of different objects around the home using an orbe sphere. The orbe sphere creates magnified images of individual items. The photos were then displayed for all to enjoy the in dining room. Residents were fascinated as to how objects changed when looking at them through the orbe sphere, sometimes upside down, magnified and rounded.

Balloon Festival

In celebration of Bristol Balloon Festival, residents participated in making and designing their own air balloons. These, along with many more other balloons, both large and small, adorned the dining and lounge area of the home.

Residents really enjoyed the variety of lovely bright colours. Barchy Bear, Wimborne’s mascot, also enjoyed a ride through the home and was seen landing his balloon in the lounge.

Residents then enjoyed watching the wonderful display on television. We then had a discussion about where each resident might like to go in a hot air balloon. One resident remembered a flight she had made with her daughter over Petworth Estate in Sussex.

World Chocolate Day

A trolley was laden with all types of chocolate, chocolate biscuits and cakes, with chocolate milkshake for residents to try throughout the day. Residents thoroughly enjoyed all the treats!

International Friendship Day

Bastille Day was then celebrated on our trip to France with resident wearing a beret and enjoying some French cheeses.
