Activities at Waterside Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Furry Friends

The joy of a visiting dog can bring is clear, and two visiting dogs 'Mike and Monty' is truly magical! These little fellows just love being stroked and give such wonderful snuggles, it's always a day of smiles and dog treats when they come to visit. They're such good boys.

Musicals Week

Having a cinema room within our home is something special. Our residents love getting together and deciding on what films to watch. This week it was all about musicals, as they sat back in their comfy theatre chairs the conversation was all about memories of watching the film for the first time in their younger years or in some cases seeing the stage version in the West End!

Oomph! Exploring India

Our ladies love learning all about different cultures, Philippa used the Oomph Wellness 'Exploring India' work sheets to give a talk about the traditions of India.

The group had a wonderful time carefully colouring each image and learning about Sari's whilst listening to Bhangra music.

Did you know... A sari is a garment from the Indian subcontinent that consists of an unstitched drape of cotton or silk between 15 to 30 feet in length that is typically wrapped around the waist, with one end elegantly draped over the shoulder.

We all think Sari's are absolutely beautiful.

Lest We Forget

Leading up Armistice Day on the 11th and our Remembrance service on Sunday our residents spent time during their weekly craft club to create paper poppies for the homes display to commemorate all those who have fallen to save us in the first and second world wars, and in subsequent conflicts across the globe.

We raised all raised a glass to those known, and unknown to us ‘WE WILL NEVER FORGET’.

Happy Birthday 'Dotty'

Please join us in wishing the delectable 'Dotty' a very happy 92nd birthday.

Dotty enjoys arts & crafts and keeps her own scrapbook of daily events. She's the Waterside Court 'colour therapy queen' always on hand to recommend what looks best on you to suit your complexion and style.

Dotty's fellow residents say she's a wonderful companion and friend to everyone. Chef and the homes' hospitality team created a stunning birthday cake, decorated with powder blue butterflies recognising some of Dotty's favourite things.
