Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.

Sarah Smith

Assistant Activities Coordinator

I have worked at Wadhurst Manor in many different roles since December 2011. Prior to this I worked as a nurse, exercise teacher and and preschool supervisor. I have 4 lovely children who are now grown up and travelling the world. My hobbies include visiting my children, singing, dancing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, reading and amateur dramatics.I find enabling residents to remain active and engaged both physically and mentally is a wonderfully rewarding job. I particularly enjoy working on our memory lane units becoming immersed in their realities, enabling them to live their best lives by concentrating on what they can do not what they can't.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

New Friendships in the making

Our lovely resident was so happy to receive a letter and photos from a local student. They spent time chatting about things they loved so she sent pictures of her beloved dogs at home.  They are hoping to meet one day soon. We are doing everything we can to help everyone stay connected with loved ones, but also making new friends in the process.

Thornton the Goat

Residents were shocked when Thornton, the goat, from Pet Pals came to visit us, it sure was a laugh to see a goat in the home. There were smiles all around the home.

Quiz Heads

Residents at Wadhurst Manor were victorious in a three head quiz games against our two sister homes Dudwell St Mary and Hurstwood View. Everyone enjoyed the activity.

Rock 'N' Roll Afternoon

Residents at Wadhurst enjoyed another energetic concert held by Birdie, a regular entertainer, who we love to see at the home. Residents can’t wait to get dressed up and sing along to all of their favourite tunes.

Aromatherapy

For our residents who find it challenging to join in with more physical activities, we offer one to ones with hand massages, manicures, aromatherapy or just a chat with a cup of tea.

Don't Dine alone this Christmas

The General Manager and all the staff would like to extend their Christmas day meal to anyone who is lonely in the local community and enjoy a meal with them. Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas.
