Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.

Sarah Smith

Assistant Activities Coordinator

I have worked at Wadhurst Manor in many different roles since December 2011. Prior to this I worked as a nurse, exercise teacher and and preschool supervisor. I have 4 lovely children who are now grown up and travelling the world. My hobbies include visiting my children, singing, dancing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, reading and amateur dramatics.I find enabling residents to remain active and engaged both physically and mentally is a wonderfully rewarding job. I particularly enjoy working on our memory lane units becoming immersed in their realities, enabling them to live their best lives by concentrating on what they can do not what they can't.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

Reminiscing on VE Day

Wadhurst Manor Celebrated 75 years of VE Day, With a reminiscence afternoon. Many residents shared their stories of the past. A few even had memorabilia from that time. Ration books, medals and lots more.  Everyone raised a glass for those that had lost their lives and then remembered the good times too.

90th Birthday Celebrations

Birthday celebrations were in full swing for this lovely lady. She received deliveries of balloons, presents, and a stunning cake complete with sparklers. We had afternoon tea complete with prosecco of course. Family members also called and celebrated via modern technology.

Message for the community

Staff and residents worked hard on creating this lovely banner to place outside the home. They wanted to let everyone know that they are safe and well at this hard time.

Tea Day & Queens Birthday Celebrations

It was double celebrations for the residents as we celebrate both National Tea Day and the Queens Birthday. We were treated to a gift box of speciality tea's from around the world, biscuits and other sweet treats. Residents spent the afternoon, with puzzles, royal memorabilia and a good old fashioned sing song round the piano.

A Big Thank you.

We have been so overwhelmed recently by members of our local community. We have received letters of kindness, flowers and treats for staff. So we wanted to say a BIG thank you to everyone that has taken the time to reach out to us. We are all doing well and your generosity means so much.

Easter Bunny

The Easter bunny came with goodies for everyone. Staff made sure that everyone had a delicious chocolate treat to enjoy with a nice cup of tea.
