Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.

Sarah Smith

Assistant Activities Coordinator

I have worked at Wadhurst Manor in many different roles since December 2011. Prior to this I worked as a nurse, exercise teacher and and preschool supervisor. I have 4 lovely children who are now grown up and travelling the world. My hobbies include visiting my children, singing, dancing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, reading and amateur dramatics.I find enabling residents to remain active and engaged both physically and mentally is a wonderfully rewarding job. I particularly enjoy working on our memory lane units becoming immersed in their realities, enabling them to live their best lives by concentrating on what they can do not what they can't.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

A Big Thank you.

We have been so overwhelmed recently by members of our local community. We have received letters of kindness, flowers and treats for staff. So we wanted to say a BIG thank you to everyone that has taken the time to reach out to us. We are all doing well and your generosity means so much.

Easter Bunny

The Easter bunny came with goodies for everyone. Staff made sure that everyone had a delicious chocolate treat to enjoy with a nice cup of tea.

Easter messages to loved ones

What a lovely Easter weekend we all had, Everyone spent time connecting with loved ones. Whether it was via telephone, Skype or good old fashioned letter writing. They made Easter art and had a traditional afternoon tea in the garden. It wasn't our usual fanfare but everyone enjoyed it all the same.

Welcomed Furry Friend

Everyday we are joined by this bundle of fun. He belongs to our Deputy Manager and has been in the home everyday since he was a tiny puppy. He brings so much joy to our residents always, but especially now as they are missing their own families furry friends coming in for a visit. Frank is always around and on hand to have a cuddle.

Spring has Sprung

We are all really enjoying the fact we can get out in our beautiful garden. While away the afternoon with weeding, potting new donated plants from the community and generally just enjoy it. Keeping our fingers crossed for plenty more of these days in the months to come.

Celebrating Success

We are lucky enough to have wonderful staff here at Wadhurst Manor. Daily they go over and above to look after not only our residents but every element of the running of the home. We always make sure that they know how much they are valued and needed here. Every month four staff members receive certificates and vouchers to brighten their day.
