Activities at Trinity Manor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Ukulele Day!

On a day with all the 2's (2/2/22), we are stole the fact that it's actually National Ukulele Day in the USA and celebrated it in style here at Trinity Manor instead...

Fun facts about the Ukulele: -

It's origins are Portuguese, but the Hawaiians adopted it in the 19th century

It has only 4 strings

The strings are made from nylon

Ukulele translates from Hawaiian as 'jumping flea'

Hawaiian Kings requested it to be played at their royal banquets

So in honour of this prestigious day, we were joined by the lovely Cyril & friends for a fantastic afternoon of singing and ukulele playing. Not only did they play, encouraging everyone to sing along with them, but they brought with them a wonderful assortment of props, wigs and hats to link in with each song, much to the hilarity of our residents! A kazoo playing Elvis even made an appearance in the building!

THANK YOU Cyril & the gang for a fabulous afternoon of fun! The residents thought you were all wonderful and haven't stop talking about you all since.

Ambling at the Abbey...

After our trip to see the amazing work at the Community Kitchen and handover funds raised by ourselves at our Christmas raffle recently, we took our two lovely ladies for a little 'amble' around (what in our opinion, is one of the country's most stunning places of worship) the local Abbey...

It's pretty stunning and we are so lucky to have it as our local church.

Here's a little snap of everyone standing in it's shadow!

Community Kitchen Fundraising!

We recently took a couple of our lovely residents down to The Sherborne Community Kitchen to formally hand over the funds raised by ourselves before Christmas, at the raffle we had at our pop up Fayre.

What a wonderful hive of excitement as we caught them before their food service to handover our giant cheque, raising £123.

Please take a look at their website and see what amazing work they do here in the heart of our community: -

A BIG thank you to Harry and the whole team down there for doing such a stellar job, ensuring affordable, hot, healthy meals are available to those who need them or just want a place to come and feel part of the community!

We would also like the thank all the incredible stallholders who donated raffle prizes for this worthwhile cause too!

Burns Night Shenanigans!

What a wonderful day our residents and staff have had!

Celebrating the bard, Robbie Burns, here at Trinity Manor today, residents channelled their inner scot and even dressed the part as they listened to some of his poems and also to some Scottish music, attempted a seated highland fling and even managed to make some working bagpipes!

We don't know about you, but we could all now do with a wee dram of scotch and lay down after all that activity!

HAPPY BURNS NIGHT TO YOU ALL!

Paint Brushes at the Ready!

Our residents have started work on creating some beautiful flowers to don a giant tree ready for some birds to come and perch in...

Looking ULTRA gorgeous from a mornings' pampering at the hairdresser, residents later on enjoyed a little painting along with some help and encouragement from our activities team, Laura and Joe.

In the upcoming weeks they will start work on painting some birds for the tree as well as making bird feeders for the garden, all ready for a short season of bird watching, as we help the RSPB Love Nature in their annual Great Garden Bird Watch! So watch this space and see what they will spot!

Have you signed up yet?

Brain Games

We started off the new year with lots of physical exercises, but let's not forget the importance of exercising the brain too...

Recently, we did just that here at Trinity Manor, as we did a bit of brainstorming as well as playing some word games.

First of all, one resident was asked to give a letter, which was then written on the board, then we wrote down several different categories, such as boys names, girls names, places and finally, wildlife. Residents then shouted out answers to the various categories starting with that letter, which in this case was an 'S'.

Then to finish the session, we put them through their paces with a simple game of zigzag words. Four letter words only, each following word must start with the last letter of the word before. Simple... Or is it? It gets harder and harder the further into the game, but it definitely got them all thinking!

Can you think of games or puzzles our residents may enjoy trying?
