Activities at Tixover House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Nicola Blevins-Twose
Hello, my name is Nicola (Nic) and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Tixover House.
My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities, entertainers and outings. At Tixover House we offer something for everyone, including crafts, games, virtual visits to places of interest around the world, outings in the local area and parties. We also provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need more support. Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends meeting we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Tixover House.
I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones. 'Living life to the full' is my motto, and whatever your ability there is always something new to learn or try.
We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Tixover House Care Home
Wearing Pink for Breast Cancer
Tixover wore pink for breast cancer on the 20th October, with various cakes all iced in pink. We were also joined by performers from Singing for Memory, so a good old singalong was enjoyed by all.
Balloons were release by residents and family members for loved ones lost and we managed to raise a total of £105 for charity.
20 Years of Service
We celebrated 20 years of Hairdresser, Wendy Tatum, working at Tixover House; she has been cutting and blow drying residents' hair for the past two decades. Congratulations from all at Tixover!
Barchester's 25th Anniversary
A very big shout out and well done to Marie and Tracey for a well-organised and fantastic day. Sir Laurence Howard KCVO OBE, The Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, unveiled the bench purchased by the residents for the 25th anniversary, and the 1940s theme went down well with everyone.
The Banjo Man
For the first time we had David Straker (The Banjo Man) visit the home to entertain residents. We all loved him; he interacted very well with everybody and even encouraged them to sing into the microphone. It was a great day!
Flower Power
Tixover shared a ray of colours and smells with some morning flower arranging on 13th October. Flowers were donated by Pollen Floristry in Oakham. It was a great morning and we shared all the flowers amongst residents.
A visit from Stamford School
The residents of Tixover spent an afternoon pebble painting with the help of the boys from Stamford School. They also both enjoyed the chatting, with laughter coming from both residents and the Stamford boys, a lovely afternoon!
This was then followed by afternoon tea which the boys loved! They have already asked if they can come and show of some artistry skills to our residents.
