Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Tewkesbury Fields and Ashchurch View Add to the Stitch Story

We were so inspired by the Stitch Story project that we teamed up with Ashchurch View Care Home - Barchester Healthcare to create our very own border piece! The staff and residents worked together to stitch the Barchester leaf which will be part of the final tapestry.

We cannot wait to attend the big reveal in May and see all the hard work of the people of Tewkesbury come together.

RSPCA Saves the Day

This Mother duck heard the Tewkesbury Fields is now open and decided that she would like to move in - with her 8 ducklings!

They thoroughly enjoyed living in our courtyard, however we thought it was best to alert the RSPCA (England & Wales). Alan from the RSPCA arrived and he was brilliant! We safely transferred the whole family into the pond at the back of the home - the ducklings found there water feet straight away! Alan said that he loved jobs that involved a happy ending!

A BIG thank you to Alan from the RSPCA, the work you do is fantastic!

Official VIP Opening Event

Tewkesbury Fields, Barchester Healthcare’s new luxury care home in Bushley, has opened its doors in style, with a Grand Opening performed by the Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Edward Gillespie OBE, in front of assembled community leaders.  It was a beautiful day which was enjoyed by all. A special thank you goes to Lord-Lieutenant Edward Gillespie OBE for officially opening the home. He commented that Tewkesbury Fields is a “magnificent home.” Our guests enjoyed a 5 star selection of canapés whilst enjoying music played by talented harpist Ruth Cartledge. They were also joined by community project – Stitch Story. Guests were able to add a stitch to the boards and are now a part of an amazing tapestry that will be displayed in Tewkesbury to commemorate all that Tewkesbury is. Tewkesbury Fields are excited to welcome their first residents in the coming days and showcase the beautiful newly refurbished home.
