Activities at Tandridge Heights Care Home

Our qualified and dedicated activities staff plan and implement all activities within the home. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect our residents interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can. We try to keep our residents active and happy.

Our activities include trips to garden centres, pubs, the cinema or the local theatre. We have many fun games like carpet bowls, Play Your Cards Right or armchair exercises. There are many musical events, singalongs, garden parties and tea parties for everyone to enjoy as well!

Kelly Sherwin

Activities Coordinator

I started at Tandridge Heights in 2020. Previous to this, I have been working as a carer sine 2010, which has helped me to understand the needs, wants and the individuality of all of our residents.

My main responsibility is provide a varied and engaging activities schedule every day for our residents; this helps to keep them involved in social and uplifting activities. We love to have parties to celebrate birthdays, national days and special occasions.

Life at Tandridge Heights Care Home

Elf Day

On Friday 4th December it was National Elf Day. Staff and residents at Tandridge Heights dressed up as elves to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

We had lots of fun playing games and eating tasty treats all whilst raising money for such a great cause.

Armistice Day

On the 11th November, residents of Tandridge Heights remembered military and civilian sacrifices made during the war. The rest of the day was spent talking about childhood memories and stories from the war.

Keep Moving

Residents really enjoyed the gentle exercise classes run by Activities Coordinator, Maxine.

Wear it Pink

Residents and staff of Tandridge Heights wore pink on Friday 23rd October 2020 to raise money for breast cancer awareness. They organised a raffle for members of the public and raised £195 pounds in total.

Word Games

Residents in the home enjoyed a lovely game of giant Scrabble. This was an activity they decided to start after the last residents' meeting.

Healthy Eating Week

This year’s BNF Healthy Eating Week ran from 28 September to 4 October 2020. The aim of the week is to bring the UK together for a dedicated week, focusing on key health messages and promoting healthy habits. The residents participated in the challenges for the week and part of this involved a sensory quiz as well which was well received by everyone.

This year’s health challenges were: eat more wholegrains (Monday); vary your veg (Tuesday); drink plenty of water (Wednesday); move more (Thursday); be mind kind (Friday); get active together (Saturday); eat together (Sunday).
