Activities at Tandridge Heights Care Home

Our qualified and dedicated activities staff plan and implement all activities within the home. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect our residents interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can. We try to keep our residents active and happy.

Our activities include trips to garden centres, pubs, the cinema or the local theatre. We have many fun games like carpet bowls, Play Your Cards Right or armchair exercises. There are many musical events, singalongs, garden parties and tea parties for everyone to enjoy as well!

Kelly Sherwin

Activities Coordinator

I started at Tandridge Heights in 2020. Previous to this, I have been working as a carer sine 2010, which has helped me to understand the needs, wants and the individuality of all of our residents.

My main responsibility is provide a varied and engaging activities schedule every day for our residents; this helps to keep them involved in social and uplifting activities. We love to have parties to celebrate birthdays, national days and special occasions.

Green Fingers

Hugh, a resident at Tandridge Heights, has a passion for gardening. He found a disused flower pot in the garden and wanted to plant some flowers, so we took Hugh to the garden centre in our minibus, where he chose some really colourful flowers. We brought them home and Hugh planted them all himself. He waters the flowers regularly and looks after them. The flower pot now looks absolutely beautiful.

National Beer Day

To celebrate National Beer Day, residents at Tandridge Heights had a beer festival in the garden.

Residents were lucky enough to sample local beer and ale from Titsey Brewery free of charge. Craig, from Titsey Brewery, very kindly set up a beer tent so that our residents could order their own drinks. Residents also enjoyed live music from a local singer and delicious snacks, prepared by our chef, Gabor. Everyone involved had such a lovely day and the weather was amazing.

Carers Week

Tandridge Heights celebrated Carers Week with lots of fun, games and treats. Carers were treated to yummy doughnuts, and we had an amazing treat of different flavoured pizzas that were kindly donated by Cucina’s Italian restaurant in Oxted.

World Bee Day

There was a buzz in the air at Tandridge Heights on 20th May, as we celebrated World Bee Day. Residents were lucky enough to have a live talk and demonstration from Steve Riley, who runs the Westerham Beekeepers Association.

We learned about why the bees are vital to a healthy environment and healthy economy. We also found out how we can help the bees and we thought it would be a lovely idea to get a bee hotel for our garden.

In the afternoon, we had a tasting session with the honey that Steve had provided. The residents thought it tasted delicious!

International Nurses' Day

Tandridge Heights honoured our wonderful nurses on International Nurses' Day by holding a thank you ceremony with residents and other staff. Nurses were given a box of chocolates, a certificate and a big round of applause for all of their hard work.

At Tandridge Heights, our nurses and staff are hardworking, dedicated and passionate about caring for others, and that compassion and commitment has shone through even more over the past year.

We also wanted to say thank you to nurses working tirelessly in local hospitals, so we delivered bags of treats and goodies to two nearby hospitals.

VE Day Celebrations

Tandridge Heights celebrated VE Day with a big party. We decorated the home with Union Jacks and lots of bunting. We had a staff fancy dress and a street party buffet style lunch.

Our residents had a big VE Day parade, and 2 minutes silence in the morning, and in the afternoon, we watched Winston Churchill’s famous speech before enjoying a live singer in our garden in the afternoon.
