Activities at Tandridge Heights Care Home

Our qualified and dedicated activities staff plan and implement all activities within the home. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect our residents interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can. We try to keep our residents active and happy.

Our activities include trips to garden centres, pubs, the cinema or the local theatre. We have many fun games like carpet bowls, Play Your Cards Right or armchair exercises. There are many musical events, singalongs, garden parties and tea parties for everyone to enjoy as well!

Kelly Sherwin

Activities Coordinator

I started at Tandridge Heights in 2020. Previous to this, I have been working as a carer sine 2010, which has helped me to understand the needs, wants and the individuality of all of our residents.

My main responsibility is provide a varied and engaging activities schedule every day for our residents; this helps to keep them involved in social and uplifting activities. We love to have parties to celebrate birthdays, national days and special occasions.

Life at Tandridge Heights Care Home

Healthy Eating Week

This year’s BNF Healthy Eating Week ran from 28 September to 4 October 2020. The aim of the week is to bring the UK together for a dedicated week, focusing on key health messages and promoting healthy habits. The residents participated in the challenges for the week and part of this involved a sensory quiz as well which was well received by everyone.

This year’s health challenges were: eat more wholegrains (Monday); vary your veg (Tuesday); drink plenty of water (Wednesday); move more (Thursday); be mind kind (Friday); get active together (Saturday); eat together (Sunday).

Indoor Visiting Suite

At Tandridge Heights, we are committed to enabling visits in some capacity during winter and we are proud to announce that our indoor visiting suite is ready and waiting to be used, subject of course to Public Health sign off. We continue to offer outdoor visits as we have done for the past few months.

Garden Quiz

Residents and staff at Tandridge Heights had a wonderful afternoon in the garden enjoying a sunny day, which was just perfect for a trivia and quiz competition. Of course, the ice cream couldn’t be missed for a refreshing afternoon out.

Quizzes don’t have to be competitive; the main objective is to have fun, reminisce and learn something new, and, of course, this usually gives rise to laughter, as some statements are probably not what you would think.

Creative Writing Club

Residents from the Creative Writing Club at Tandridge Heights had the brilliant idea to write a poem during International Literacy Day. The group came up with so many creative ideas and the words started to flow in an initial draft. At the end of the session, residents created a joint poem called 'These Feet'.

Chairman of Tandridge District Council Visit

Chairman of Tandridge District Council, Councillor Jeremy Pursehouse, has visited Barchester’s Tandridge Heights Memorial care home in Oxted for a social distanced garden visit aimed to show appreciation to local care home workers.

Councillor Jeremy was joined by his Consort, Wendy Pursehouse as well as Jackie Wren, district councillor for Oxted North & Tandridge. Councillor Pursehouse gave a short speech thanking the staff for their hard work and dedication through this entire period.
