Activities at Sutton Grange Care Home

Here at Sutton Grange we work really hard at providing a range of activities to suit our residents needs. We understand that everyone is different and we enjoy supporting our residents in whatever activities they would like to take part in. With a dedicated Activities co-ordinator and a friendly team of volunteers we are always busy with activities. We have several clubs including; gardening, film, craft, music, puzzles, and singing. We enjoy live music and entertainment, both in and outside of the home, and have regular outings on the minibus to local places of interest. Residents take part in animal assisted therapy, afternoon tea, arts and crafts classes, and visits from local community groups and school children. We believe it is important to provide stimulating, meaningful and relevant activities for our residents in order to make friends, and build a warm community to live.

Alison Wareing

Activities Co-Ordinator

Hi, I'm Alison.  I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Sutton Grange, I joined the team in 2016.

I grew up in the local area and started my career working with animals.  After I had my daughter, and before I joined Barchester, I trained as a teacher and taught lipreading and communication.  The skills I learnt have been invaluable in my role today.

Now, I fill my days spending time with our wonderful Residents, helping them to live their lives to the fullest. I try to make a difference in someone’s life each day.

Life at Sutton Grange Care Home

Our 2nd Birthday Party

Our 2nd Birthday Party

What a fabulous day we all had at Sutton Grange when we celebrated our 2nd Birthday.

Residents, staff, friends and family were treated to an afternoon of fun and entertainment in the café area and in the gardens as the sun shone on us all afternoon.

General Manager, Beverley Davis, introduced herself to everyone, and we all gave her a warm welcome and gifted her some flowers.

Employee of the Month - August

Employee of the Month - August

August's Employee of the Month goes to Sarah Lumb. Sarah's hard work is shown everyday through her dedication to resident's needs. Sarah's vibrant personality shines through and everyone at the home loves her! Well done, Sarah.

What have we been up to?

What have we been up to?

There has been lots going on at Sutton Grange recently: residents admired their hard work at the Gardening Club, the weekly ice cream man became very popular at the home and our Hawaiian-themed summer party was a huge hit! The party was full to the brim with cake, bucks fizz, prosecco and a buffet. We really celebrated our second birthday in style! We also welcomed our new General Manager, Bev Davis, to the home.

Live Entertainment

Live Entertainment

We enjoyed a vibrant performance from entertainer, Hugh Dent, who wowed us with instruments, song sheets, and a good ol' fashioned knees up!

A Trip to the Canal

A Trip to the Canal

Residents soaked up the scenery at the canal whilst reminiscing over a nice cup of tea and an Eccles cake at our local marina.

Animal-Assisted Therapy

Animal-Assisted Therapy

We had a visit from Beverly Edwards from Animal Assisted Therapy and other friends who brought along a colourful selection of animals. We learnt a lot and, most importantly, we got to pet the animals!
