Activities at Station Court Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney
Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator. I joined the home in 2011. I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Station Court Care Home

Father’s Day Celebrations
Gentlemen at Station Court were joined by family members to celebrate father’s day together. They were treated to a live entertainment swinging 60s and 70s show by local young vocalist and guitarist, having everyone singing along and dancing to their favourite hits. Before tucking into a delicious 3 course Sunday roast, prepared by the homes head chef, Washed down with beers, ales and their favourite tipple and chocolate gifts all fathers and grandfathers in the home.

D-Day 80
Station Court’s garden was full of fun, laughter and music as residents, staff members, family and friends came together to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day at the homes picnic party event.
A brilliant day was had by all with live entertainment from amazing local artist, Mark McCaan performing rock N roll hits and wartime classics having everyone singing along and dancing before everyone tucked into picnic baskets filled with sweet and savoury treats.
The event raised funds for Station Court care home charity of the month: SSAFA Northumberland – Armed Forces Charity.

Charity Walk
Residents, staff and family members have taken part in a sponsored walk and wheel throughout the town to raise money for local charity Mind Active.
Staff and residents at the home dressed a little silly and embarked on a memory walk and wheel through Ashington town. Reminiscing along the way bringing back many fond memories of times spent at the likes of the Arcade, The Grand Hotel and the bowling greens. The home also held a bake sale and community coffee morning to help raise more funds for this very important cause.

Into the deep....
Residents across our services enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of The Deep, an award-winning aquarium in Hull.
Our residents dived into the underwater world of some fascinating creatures such as sharks, turtles and stingrays.
It was a truly immersive and educational experience that brought the wonders of the ocean right to our screens.

Dementia Action Week
The home held special animal therapy sessions during the week. The comfort and joy of animals was brought to the homes lounge at an indoor petting zoo event with Discovery zoo and Clip, clop feet could be heard throughout the home with farmyard friends visiting from Humbles farm.
The home transported through time for a Best of British themed day partying with live entertainment, memorabilia and took their taste buds on a journey with a special virtual event with Cadbury’s chocolate. Staff brought the seaside into the home for a fun filled day bringing back memories of holidays and family days out with memorabilia, sand therapy, music and themed foods. Residents took a trip down memory lane of Ashington in its Hey-Day sharing memories and enjoyed a wellbeing walk to local pond and high street. Everyone enjoyed dressing like movie stars and reminiscing the good old days at picture halls at the homes movie matinee event. Staff and residents ended the week on a high inviting family, friends and visitors for a special forget-me-not café.
