Activities at Station Court Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Life at Station Court Care Home

Horse-ing around!

We had a very special and unique visit at Station Court from Katy and Taz, the 11 year old leopard spotted appaloosa horse from K L Pony Therapy.

Taz loved showing off her beautiful coat and sparkly hooves, and receiving cuddles, strokes and attention as she trotted around visiting all our residents from their bedsides to the lounge. She brought joy, happiness and priceless moments for us all.

Miniature ponies pay a visit

Station Court care home, in Ashington was full of animal mischief on Friday when K L Pony therapy paid a unique visit. Residents at Station Court were pleasantly surprised to meet Taz, the 11 year old leopard spotted appaloosa horse. Who loved showing off her beautiful coat and sparkly hooves. Receiving all the attention, cuddles and strokes from residents of the home from their bedsides to their sitting room.

Activities Coordinator, Carly Chesney said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visit today. The reactions on everyone’s faces were priceless, Taz the horse has brought much joy and fond memories with her today. We are always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people.”

Love is in the air!

Couples at Station Court care home in Ashington celebrated in style this Valentine’s Day.  Staff at Station Court were delighted to assist 2 married couples who live in the home to a special three course meal complete with decorations, treats, wine and music bringing back memories of good times, wedding days and courting to celebrate Valentine’s day.

Activities Coordinator, Carly Chesney, said: “It was truly heart-warming to assist both couples in having a day as special as all the other Valentine’s they have spent together. To hear their stories and see them together, it shows true love does exist’’

After 62 and 69 years of marriage, when asked the secret to a long happy marriage the couples agreed it was ‘’being their together for the good time and the not so good and being a team through it all… and knowing the wife is always right!’’

Starlings virtual talk

Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.

Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.

The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

New Year, New Goals!

We are so excited at Station Court to be back to weekly dementia football sessions, joining ‘Get Onside Northumberland’ keeping fit and active and having a ‘ball’ scoring goals, smashing football challenges and reconnecting with friends from the past.

Happy New Year!

We know how to celebrate at Station Court!

Singing our hearts out on karaoke, dancing to everyone’s favourite hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s, and of course having a great laugh together with the drinks flowing as we say cheers to the good times in 2022 and those to come in 2023 we hope it is filled with health and happiness for everyone!
