Activities at Station Court Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator.  I joined the home in 2011.  I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

Life at Station Court Care Home

Virtual trip to the Donkey Sanctuary

Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester.  Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care.  They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Lest We Forget

Our gents were proud to join so many others in the community coming together to mark respect for our fallen at Ashington’s Remembrance day march and parade.

In house we wore our poppies with pride as we came together to remember and reflect with poems, wreath making and a remembrance dance with the brilliant musical memories performing singing wartime classics we love to sing and dance along to.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.

Remember, Remember: The Fifth of November!

We had an explosive time celebrating Bonfire night at Station Court.

From making our own ‘penny for the guy’ and firework pictures, watching virtual displays and displays from our garden with sparklers and hot chocolates, before warming up by the fire with chocolate treats and a Guy Fawkes quiz night.

Halloween Skele-bration

We had a spooktacular time celebrating Halloween at Station Court at our Halloween family fun day.

Residents and grandchildren played themed games, they got messy decorating hallows biscuits, and took part in spider scavenger hunts and ate errie-sistable cakes before the children went trick or treating around our home.

Reading for wellbeing

We are thrilled to partner up with Northumberland Library and Seaton Park medical group to offer reading for wellbeing sessions every month at Station Court. Our pop up library with large print, audio tapes and picture books to choose from available for everyone throughout the month.

This month residents took a trip down memory lane back to their childhood era with books such as the Famous Five, Noddy, Narnia and Ruppert, with memorabilia of vintage toys such as the fisher price music box, record player and ring toss. We played games of guess the book and we all had a great afternoon sharing memories and stories.

Dementia football

Residents have had a fantastic time joining the dementia football team at our local welfare centre this month, provided by the sports development team at Northumberland County Council.  Football is a great game for coordination, balance and fitness, and our residents will be playing every week having fun, keeping active with friendly competition and a good laugh with each other just like years ago!
