Activities at Station Court Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Life at Station Court Care Home

Pets at the Palaces

Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.

Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.

Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes.  It was a truly lovely time for all.

World Cocktail Day

We made the most of the sun shining on World Cocktail day!

We all had a blissful afternoon tasting and making our own signature tastes and pre made cocktails and mocktails whilst catching vitamin D out in our garden along with ice creams, music and testing our cocktail knowledge in a quiz.

Reconnecting friendships through football

At our recent weekly Dementia football outing to the Hirst Welfare centre with GetOnside Northumberland.

2 of our gentlemen who worked down the pit together reconnected with a gentleman they used to play football with, for North Seaton team in their younger days. It was a heart-warming morning with all men connecting once again through the love of football, active challenges and friendly competition!

Celebrations fit for a King

We had a jam packed coronation weekend at Station Court!

Everyone got involved in decorating our home from quilting to woodwork before we began our celebrations with the amazing vocalist Michaela singing at our Royal prosecco party!

We watched history in the making on the big screen, we made floral centrepieces, royal cocktails and decorated cakes for our royal afternoon tea party and ended our celebrations on a high singing and dancing with live entertainment from the brilliant Michael Stevens!

The rich history of coronations

Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.

St. James' Park Visit

Some of our gentlemen in the home had expressed wanting to return to the home of the magpies recently, and so the team at Station Court got to work to make this happen and were invited to St James park memory café.

Our NUFC fans were over the moon to not only see the stadium in its glory but to meet toon legend Bob Moncur, captain of the team in the late 60s! who gave a great talk of his career with the club bringing back many great and funny memories, and also came to meet and give his autograph to our gents!

A truly special day for all of us.
