Activities at Station Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator.  I joined the home in 2011.  I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Station Court Care Home

St Patrick's Day!

Station Court turned green as residents and staff got into the Irish spirit, celebrating St Patrick's day in style.

The care home was filled with fun and laughter as everyone shamrocked and rolled to Irish hits performed live by the brilliant Andy McGowan with pints of Guinness going down a treat as well as green-themed goodies of energising smoothies, lime luck mocktails and green fruity snack pots.

Afterward, residents embraced the luck of the Irish at shamrock bingo, winning themed tasty prizes.

Gents Pub Club

The weather may have been gloomy this month, but the gentlemen at Station Court Care Home took cover and had a great time visiting our local watering hole – ‘The Miners Pub’ at the home's monthly pub club.

Gents enjoyed catching up with old friends and connecting with one another, sharing stories of younger years, pit life and hobbies with one another over their favourite alcoholic beverages.

Love is all around!

Residents, staff and family members had a fabulous time celebrating Valentine’s at Station Court Care Home.

A love and friendship ball was held, bringing everyone together, singing and dancing to their favourite love songs through the years, performed live by Michaela from Musical Memories. Later, residents learnt of Valentine's traditions around the world, created and tasted Valentine's treats such as chocolate-covered strawberries and cupid cupcakes, shared love stories and created a beautiful group Valentine's poem in poetry club.

EnabLE is live!

We are delighted Station Court is now live using EnabLE, our new digital care system to plan, record, and co-ordinate the person-centred care we provide using hand-held devices and tablets.

High-quality, person-centred care is at the heart of everything that we do at Barchester. We believe everyone deserves the best care possible, and we're committed to continuous improvement and finding new technologies to enhance and simplify the care we provide.

As every resident is unique in their own way, it’s important that we record accurately – ‘in the moment’ - each and every interaction our teams have with our residents, so we can create the best support plans possible for them, which our new system allows us to do.

Jukebox Show

Residents, staff and family members at Station Court had a fantastic time at the Jukebox show, with live entertainer Michaela from Musical Memories performing jukebox classic hits such as Elvis, Doris Day and Cilla Black.

This had us all on our feet dancing and singing along together to some of our favourite songs, bringing everyone together for a great time.

Gent's Day Out

Gentlemen at Station Court headed out on the home’s mini bus and had a great day out in the community at Cramlington.

We visited the Bay Horse, enjoying a pub lunch and a few pints, reminiscing about days in the pub playing dominoes and watching the racing after a hard day at work, followed by a short trip down to Burradon Village, so one of our gents could see how his home town and local pub had changed over the years.
