Activities at St Thomas Care Home

Our activities coordinator is dedicated to organising meaningful activities on an individual and group basis to fulfill the daily needs of our residents, as we understand how important mental and physical stimulation is for their wellbeing. Our activities are available to everyone who wants to take part and there is something different going on everyday. We often go out on day trips including visiting shopping centres, garden centres, evening meals at the local pubs, visits to local schools and also coffee mornings with other care homes. We have a wide range of entertainers that visit us at our home including musical therapists, Millers Ark Farm, pantomimes as well as our local salvation army and lots more. We encourage families to join us on trips out and also in home activities such as baking, arts and crafts, dancing and singing, we believe this is a great way for our residents to live an active and fun life here with us at St Thomas.

St Patrick's Day

We all enjoyed the Guinness tasting on St Patrick's Day together with a celebration of Irish tales and songs. The conservatory was decorated with lots of green and white balloons and the Leprechaun pictures were the subject of much discussion - would he really lead us to a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?

Mother's Day

Residents enjoyed a lively lunch on Sunday in the conservatory, we always offer a glass of wine with meals and it was lovely to see residents relax and socialise with their meal the room all decorated for the occasion with fresh flowers. In the afternoon we also had a special cream tea, calories don't count on Sunday's!

Shrove Tuesday Supper!

Residents really enjoyed pancakes this week - with a full choice of toppings available its was difficult to choose so why not mix? fresh strawberries and toffee sauce was delicious!

Staff Wear A Vaccine Badge of Pride!

Our Staff were delighted to be given badges to show recognition of vaccinations they have received, a sign to our residents and colleagues they have had the vaccine to protect them. The Grade 2 listed chapel made a stunning backdrop for a photo with a few of the team. Duncan Edwards, Regional Director, who visited us this week commented: “We are proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected and will all be wearing these badges with pride!”

Valentine Hearts!

Residents made beautiful red hearts this week to display on the conservatory glass overlooking the garden, from a distance they looked like butterfly wings and brought a smile to everyone to see the messages of love to our friends and friends
