Activities at Spen Court Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

My name is Angela and I am the Head Activities Coordinator here at Spen Court. I get so much satisfaction out of knowing I have made a difference to people’s days and have filled the home with a sense of community and happiness.
We feel it is important to build community connections and maintain our resident’s social interaction outside the care home.
We ensure we deliver a person-centered program of events and activities and build strong relationships with our residents, their families and friends.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Sharing the love
Sharing the Love......Spen Court have received a special delivery from Shaw Cross Infant and Nursery School. We have received lots of wonderful pictures from so many children from the age of 3 to 7. Here are a few that were picked at random, as there were just too many to choose from. They are all wonderful.
Community gifts
This wonderful lady, Tanisha Bramwell brought gifts to Spen Court for the care staff as a thank you. We feel honoured and humbled that this amazing, very busy lady has thought of us. Tanisha does so much work within the community, always thinking of others, this is just a little of the good this lady does within the community.
Nutcracker crafts
Here at Spen Court we have made our very own Nutcracker soldier. Nothing but cardboard boxes, paint and feathers.
Special delivery from local School
Spen Court have received a special delivery this week from Shaw Cross Infant and Nursery School.
We have received lots of wonderful pictures from so many children from the age of 3 to 7. Here are a few that were picked at random, as there were just too many to choose from. They are all wonderful and the residents were so happy to receive them!
Magic of the Nutcracker
We experienced the magic of the Nutcracker with a special interactive workshop led by English National Ballet Associate Artists.
Our residents were able to take a magical journey thorough Edwardian London and to learn more about the enchanted Nutcracker characters: Clara, the Mouse King, and her valiant Nutcracker doll.
The session included a chair-based dance workshop, clips of the ballet on stage and a Christmas carol sing-along, truly enjoyed by all.
Truffle making for Christmas
We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Steve Wilkes from Unilever for an exciting immersive Christmas experience.
Our residents were welcomed with chocolate treats as Paul and Steve took them on an exciting chocolate truffle making and biscuit decorating journey.
To finish off the Christmas special event, our residents enjoyed a themed quiz and a singalong.
We all had a wonderful time.
