Highfield Care Home in Tadcaster

Highfield Care Home in Tadcaster is set in beautiful and tranquil open parkland, overlooking a lake and in close proximity to the historic Roman Catholic Church of Scarthingwell Park.

Here at Highfield we offer an extremely high level of 24-hour nursing care, providing specialist care for frailty and for people with illnesses, including Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, motor neurone disease and multiple sclerosis. Our Memory Lane Community is a dedicated residential facility that provides expert dementia care, in addition to end of life care.

In our nursing home, our team of highly qualified and attentive staff focus on dignity, choice and independence for all the individuals we support, based on a tailored care plan for each person. Dedication is a feature of the whole team, from our kitchen staff concentrating on cooking and hospitality through to the organisation of fantastic activities and events for our residents and relatives.

Please feel free to call and discuss any care questions you may have with one of our team.

Why not arrange a visit to Highfield to share a coffee and some cake with us, and see for yourself just how we may be able to meet your needs - now or in the future?

Types of care

Highfield has two separate communities within the building: the first floor is home to our Memory Lane residential dementia community, where 14 people who live with memory impairment or other symptoms of dementia are able to enjoy a peaceful and relaxed experience with staff who understand the many and varied effects of the condition. They are supported by external agencies to ensure the care they provide is evidence-based and current practice. On the ground floor, we have 26 bedrooms for people with nursing needs. This can include frail elderly people, those living with motor neurone disease, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's and MS. We recognise each person as an individual and tailor our care to their requirements to ensure that they are able to feel at home and live a life they choose to live.

Our Team

The dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care to each individual living at the home.

Adel Pangilinan

General Manager

Hi, my name is Adel, and I’m the General Manager here at Highfield Care Home. Welcome to our website!

I am a Registered Nurse and have worked in the care sector for over 15 years. Prior to joining Barchester in 2014, I worked as a Night Manager, Deputy Manager and then a Home Manager in a different care home, which specialised in dementia care.

Highfield's team and I have achieved great things whilst working together, including an overall rating of 'Good' from the CQC and a 5 star rating for Food Safety and Hygiene. This home continues to be the preferred elderly care provider not only to our local community, but also to our neighbouring villages and localities.

I think you’ll find us ideally suited to meet your needs now and in the future, so why not arrange a visit to meet myself and my team?

I joined the team at Highfield in June 2018 and already feel part of the Highfield family. I have worked in administration since 2013, but enjoy it more whilst working in the care sector.

I love working as a team with the staff and the residents who make me feel part of the family in my spare time.

Richard Sweeting

Activities Coordinator

From an early age I have always been involved in my local community. I have lived in the town of Tadcaster all my life and for 21 years represented the local council. I have also been very lucky to have been appointed Town Mayor twice. I came to work for Highfield in 2001 and it has given me the opportunity to bring the social side of care at Highfield to a different level. I love working in the home as I think it is such a wonderful place.

I was brought up with my grandparents and as times changed I ended up caring for them. I now live on my own and Highfield plays a very special part in my life, with the clients and staff all now being part of my extended family, and making the home my family home.

Eve Goodger

Head Chef

I have worked for Barchester for over seven years, joining Highfield's team a year ago and am very proud that I was promoted to Head chef in July 2016. Myself and my team provide all the food within the home and I pride myself in our home baking and sweet treats. We cater for a wide variety of diets and include the people in our community to help plan menus.

I work closely with the Nursing team to ensure weight loss is monitored and find alternative ways to encourage people with poor appetites with foods and drinks they enjoy. We recognise everyone's birthday with a cake and if they request a special meal we will provide this for them. Parties and coffee mornings are all catered for with our own baking.

Away from work I love to spend time with my Grandson. I also spend my free time flower arranging and cake decorating and if time always I like to get engrossed in a good book.

I have worked as Housekeeper since July 2012, prior to this I worked in the home as part of the domestic team for 5 years.  I find my role very challenging, however a very rewarding one too.  I have an excellent team that assists me in keeping the home to a very high standard of cleanliness.

Outside work I am kept very busy with a young family I have two daughters and a son, whom with my husband I love spending all my spare time with.
