Hi, my name is Annaliza, and I’m the acting General Manager here at Highfield Care Home. Welcome to our website!
I have been the homes Deputy Manager previously. I am originally from the Philippines. I completed a BSc in Nursing in 1994, and now have over 20 years' experience in general nursing.
I am a dedicated, hardworking, compassionate and conscientious nurse, and I pride myself on my professionalism whilst carrying out my work duties.
I believe in establishing trust and building a good relationship with residents, loved ones, staff and other care professionals, which enables me to provide the best care for those living at Highfield
I am very passionate about my role as Head of Memory Lane. My experience working with people living with dementia has changed my approach to providing care.
I support my team to ensure the people living in our community have the best possible experience of communal living, whilst maintaining individuality and meaningful engagement.
From an early age I have always been involved in my local community. I have lived in the town of Tadcaster all my life and for 21 years represented the local council. I have also been very lucky to have been appointed Town Mayor twice. I came to work for Highfield in 2001 and it has given me the opportunity to bring the social side of care at Highfield to a different level. I love working in the home as I think it is such a wonderful place.
I was brought up with my grandparents and as times changed I ended up caring for them. I now live on my own and Highfield plays a very special part in my life, with the clients and staff all now being part of my extended family, and making the home my family home.
I have worked for Barchester for over seven years, joining Highfield's team a year ago and am very proud that I was promoted to Head chef in July 2016. Myself and my team provide all the food within the home and I pride myself in our home baking and sweet treats. We cater for a wide variety of diets and include the people in our community to help plan menus.
I work closely with the Nursing team to ensure weight loss is monitored and find alternative ways to encourage people with poor appetites with foods and drinks they enjoy. We recognise everyone's birthday with a cake and if they request a special meal we will provide this for them. Parties and coffee mornings are all catered for with our own baking.
Away from work I love to spend time with my Grandson. I also spend my free time flower arranging and cake decorating and if time always I like to get engrossed in a good book.
After leaving school, I began a career working as a builder with my father. I then left the trade to pursue a career in the police force, serving in Leeds in various departments. After retirement, I retrained as a domestic heating installer and plumber before taking a job here at Highfield, and I now supporting the day-to-day running of the home.
I have worked as Housekeeper since July 2012, prior to this I worked in the home as part of the domestic team for 5 years. I find my role very challenging, however a very rewarding one too. I have an excellent team that assists me in keeping the home to a very high standard of cleanliness.
Outside work I am kept very busy with a young family I have two daughters and a son, whom with my husband I love spending all my spare time with.
Hello, my name is Sue and I have been working as part of the hospitality team here at Highfield for 17 years.
I find working here very rewarding, challenging and fulfilling and I'm fully committed to supporting the residents we look after. It’s important to me that all of our residents feel comfortable and relaxed and families and friends feel welcome.
I love my job at Highfield and feel very much part of the community.
