Ouse View Care Home in York

With commanding views over the North Yorkshire countryside, Ouse View is situated in the historic village of Fulford, site of the 11th century Battle of Fulford. Two miles south of the city of York, Ouse View is a purpose-built care home due to open its door to residents in late summer 2020. The home is set in secure, picturesque gardens, and is within walking distance to a variety of local shops and amenities. The renowned McArthurGlen Designer Outlet is also only minutes away by car or one of the area’s excellent local bus services

Ouse View has been specifically designed to provide high-quality elderly care, including residential care, as well as care and support for individuals living with dementia.

The home's specialist Memory Lane Community utilises a careful blend of skills and techniques developed by leading experts in the field of dementia care, incorporating person-centred design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such us adapted crockery and tableware, will assist with reminiscence. Communities will be broken up into small units with a family atmosphere so people can feel safe and comfortable.

Care will be focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Staffing levels will reflect the needs of residents, and people living with dementia will be offered a range of activities to help preserve life skills, support interactions and retain a sense of purpose and selfhood.

Types of care

Celebrating life, individuality and dignity is all part of the Barchester philosophy, so the care we will offer will be designed around these values. We understand that each person has individual needs, so our staff will be trained to deliver bespoke, person-centred care to those we support.

Pauline Hodgson

General Manager

Hi, my name is Pauline and I am the General Manager here at Ouse View. Welcome to our website.

I am a qualified nurse and have been involved with care homes in the private sector since 1990. I have had many varied roles during that time, from being a Home Owner to a Regional Manager, Project Manager and General Manager.

I joined Barchester Healthcare in March 2010 and commissioned a new home for them in Chellaston, Derby and latterly I have been the General Manager at one of their homes in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

I am very proud to be given the opportunity to support Ouse View and welcome you to come and meet our team to discuss your loved one’s care needs or just to have a cup of tea and a chat.
