Activities at Southerndown Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Co-ordinator

I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Classic Car pays special visit

We had a delightful surprise at Southerndown Murray, one of our wonderful residents and a classic car enthusiast, brought along his beloved Alvis (not to be confused with Elvis!). Murray has cherished this beauty since the 1970s, taking it on adventures across America and France, and now, it's gracing us here at Southerndown

Musical Morning at Southerndown

We had a delightful musical morning here at Southerndown Care Home, filled with our favourite songs from the golden days.

The melodies of beloved artists like Tom Jones filled the air, bringing joy and nostalgia to everyone present.

As the tunes played,we were reminded of our younger days, when we first heard these iconic songs on the radio and bought the records that we still cherish today.

It was a heartwarming experience that allowed us to reminisce about those special moments in our lives

Lucias Tiny Farm

We were so luck to have a delightful visit from Lucia’s Tiny Farm!

Lucia brought along her beautiful dog Coco, as well as rabbits, guinea pigs, a chicken, a tortoise, and Bernie the bearded dragon.

It was a wonderfully relaxed and contented afternoon, filled with petting animals and reminiscing about the good old days on farm and our own pets from years gone by.

Pet therapy really is amazing and a sight to behold

Wimbledon Fever Starts!

Wimbledon fever has started at Southerndown as we set up our own centre court to take in the action whilst having a game ourselves. Balloon tennis was the key match of the afternoon, followed by tradtional afternoon tea with strawberries and cream!

Hey Jude........

'Yesterday' we transformed our home into the Cavern Club to mark Global Beatles Day on and even recreated the famous Abbey Road picture!  The day celebrates the band’s music and we had a special themed performance whilst enjoying a drink and nibble in the sunshine!
