Activities at Southerndown Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Southerndown Care Home
The wildlife videographer Simon Watts
We have enjoyed another fantastic visit from The wildlife videographer Simon Watts. Who showed us a very interesting film he had made about wildlife and the forest in February and March. We loved the film and we found learning about different bird calls very interesting. We enjoy our monthly visits from Simon and we are already looking forward to his next visit.
A Darts afternoon
Our wonderful carers, Sasha, Martin and Lois held a darts tournament for our residents and what a fun game it was. There was a few nail biting games in the tournament but it was such a fun afternoon. Our residents had a great time and enjoyed themselves.
A musical afternoon
We had a very special visit from a wonderful talented duo and they treated us to beautiful classical music from across the globe. It was such a relaxing afternoon, with some of favourite classics being played. The afternoon was a big success and it brought back so many wonderful memories. We are already looking forward to their next visit.
Wildlife Film
At Southerndown this week we have had an amazing visit from Simon Watts. Simon was presenting to us a wildlife film that he had made about a skulk of foxes living at an allotment in Coventry. We found the film absolutely fascinating and we were all so intrigued about the foxes. We can’t wait for Simon to visit us again soon for his next amazing film.
Father's Day
Father’s day at Southerndown was such a lovely day. We discussed beforehand what we would like to do for the day and we decided upon visits from loved ones, a traditional Sunday Lunch and some real ale to round off the day. Such an amazing way to celebrate all the amazing fathers.
