Activities at Southerndown Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Stacey Davies
I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Southerndown Care Home

National Carers Week Party
This week is National Carers week, and a chance to thank our wonderful care team at Southerndown for all their hard work they put in to ensuring our residents are cared for and safe in our wonderful home. Cake and chocolate was on the cards along with some lovely homemade pizzas made by our brilliant kitchen team. A well deserved party thrown by the residents as a token of thanks for everything you do!

On your marks, get set, BAKE!
This week was extra special for our baking club, as residents wanted to bake a cake ahead of celebrating National Carers Week this week. Everyone was on hand to help, with all of us having different roles and key parts in the bake off! The final result was incredible and we very much looked forward to presenting it to the team here at Southerndown as a huge thank you for everything they do!

Professional Breakfast at Southerndown
This week we launched our new professional breakfast club, which will take place monthly for all of the blue light and emergency workers that work so hard to support the local community of Chipping Norton and surrounding areas. A full english was on the menu, with plenty of choice and it was great to catch up with some of the lovely people supporting our community. Looking forward to doing it again next month and be sure to come along!

Community Dementia Café Launch Party
Wow Wow Wow! All we can say is what a fantastic launch we had for a brand Dementia Community Cafe this week. This a new monthly event that we will be hosting at Southerndown Care Home, open to the local community who want to come down, meet other members of the dementia community and seek support from our experts and special guests. A huge thank you to Julia from Dementia Oxford and the team for laying on such a great event.

Wychwood Wild Gardens Walk
Another Wish Fulfilled at Southerndown Care Home!
We had the pleasure of fulfilling our wonderful resident Philippa's wish for a lovely walk.
We visited the breathtaking and serene Wychwood Wild Gardens, and it was a perfect morning!

National Sausage Roll Day
National Sausage Roll Day at Southerndown Care Home! Today, we celebrated National Sausage Roll Day with a fantastic taste testing event. Our very talented Chef Andre led a fun sausage roll making session. We also tried our hand at making our own delicious sausage rolls. We all had such a good time because who doesn’t love a good sausage roll?
