Activities at Southerndown Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Stacey Davies
I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing many various activities for our residents, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus, quiz days and art therapy, amongst the many things we enjoy to do.
I look forward to meeting you all.

Life at Southerndown Care Home
Pub Lunch
We decided to take a trip to the wonderful Plough Inn for nice pub lunch and a Guinness or two.
The weather was kind so we finished our drinks and desserts outside in the sunshine.
We had such a great time and we are looking forward to our next trip out on the mini bus.
Southerndown Baking Club
This week in baking club we were joined by our amazing carer Sasha, and our fantastic Care Practitioner Graeme and we were baking some simply delicious bread. It is easy when you know how and we are all a dab hand at bread making. We made the perfect loafs to accompany our soup for lunch. We have decided that nothing (almost) tastes better than freshly baked bread.
Flower Arranging Workshop
Here at Southerndown we are very lucky to have some keen florists in our midst, and we like to hold a flower arranging workshop to create floral decorations to display around the home.
Our flowers for this workshop are the classic pink and white carnations, which were a great choice by the ladies, and the floral decorations looked fantastic throughout the home.
Musical afternoon with King and Rackham
We recently had a wonderful afternoon of musical entertainment from the very talented duo King & Rackham.
The afternoon was a big hit with some of our fond favourites such as Bach and Beethoven, with some newer classical pieces mixed in.
Finishing of the afternoon of with of course - Nessun Dorma.
Fall fighters at ‘Come for tea’
Southerndown had such an amazing reception for our fall fighters talk at ‘come for tea’ St Marys Parish rooms, Chipping Norton.
It was an absolute pleasure to present our Barchester Healthcare/RoSPA campaign to increase awareness of how to prevent the pain and distress caused by falls in our local community. The talk was informative and useful and it was great to meet so many new people in our local community.
Kiddley Divey
For our musical afternoon we had a visit from Yvette at Kiddley Divey. We spent the afternoon singing to our favourite songs such as que sera sera and dancing along with the music. We always enjoy these sessions as the music always brings back so many wonderful memories.
