Activities at Southerndown Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Stacey Davies
I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Hampers at the ready.....
This week we took advantage of the glorious sunshine on our decking area in the garden and setup a lovely little picnic for our residents with fresh cakes, tea and pastries. Thank you to the team for arranging this, sometimes its the little things that can make such a difference to the people we look after.

SunRae Dance Winners!
SOUTHERNDOWN ANNOUNCED AS THE WINNERS!!!
Back in April SunRae Dance Group came to see us to deliver some dance lessons to the resident's to the chosen song by Rod Stewart 'I am Sailing'.
After full training we then put on a special performance and we are thrilled to announce that we won the large group category for the SunRae Inclusive Care Home Dance Competition 2024!
Well done to our wonderful residents and massive congratulations to everyone involved!

Making memories to last a lifetime
We have been busy working together to create some memory boxes for the residents to keep in their rooms. We wanted to create a space where residents can reflect on memories of the past, but also keep new memories and souvenirs of our trips out and exciting things we do in the home.

Bruern Farm Shop
What a beautiful morning we had at Bruern Farm Shop last week taking in the stunning views whilst we indulged in delicious tea and cake. We love our little trips out, made even better when the weather is spot on!

On the tee from Southerndown......
FORE!!!!!!!!!
We have officially opened our mini golf course here at Southerndown Care Home. With the warm weather, The Open, and the golf at the Olympics this week, we wanted to get in the spirit of the game and provide a permanent feature to our lovely gardens. With a number of residents having previously been fanatic golfers its the perfect spot for a bit of fun, at the opportunity to keep fit whilst reminiscing over past hobbies. We were even joined by family and friends for the opening which was officially opened by our Golf Captain Phillipa!
