Activities at Sherwood Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinator is constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. We have regular outings in the mini bus to nearby places of interest including local garden centres and parks as well as musicians and entertainers. We also hold bingo evenings which are helped out by our residents families. We also have a local pub nearby which the residents enjoy visiting from time to time for a spot of lunch or sitting in the gardens in the summer time. We try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests as best is possible. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Emma Powers

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Emma Powers; I am the Activities Coordinator here at Sherwood Lodge.

I have worked in the care sector for over two decades; prior to this I was a soldier in the UK Armed Forces where I gained exceptional powers of communication, organisation and teamwork. During my time as a carer I have gained my NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care and have been employed as a Senior Carer. I chose to switch professional roles to activities as I find supporting both residential and dementia residents very rewarding.

I have been employed within Barchester for over three years, I love working for this company and am really excited to continue to care for all of its residents and their families.

Wimbledon Celebration

On Saturday 13th July was ladies final day at Wimbledon and we honnoured the event with celebration. Out on the veranda next to the lawn our residents enjoyed Pimms and strawberries under the parasol in the sunshine and then watched the exciting tennis final on the TV.

World Chocolate Day

Residents at Sherwood Lodge in Fulwood celebrated World Chocolate Day with a range of chocolaty activities on Sunday 7th July. Staff helped residents make chocolate cakes, chocolate truffles and held a competition. The winner was prized with an exquisite box of the finest chocolates donated by Beeches chocolate. Residents enjoyed the Beeches history presentation and sampled their delicious chocolates.

Our local church hosted a coffee morning, two residents of Sherwood Lodge, Sheila and Edith attended and made new friends. Everyone had a good time and interesting conversations over coffee and delicious cakes. Residents are expecting a visit from their new friends soon.
